Submissions of entries are open and invited from youth artists aged 4 to 18 for the IFAW World Wildlife Day International Youth Art Contest 2024 until February 6, 2024.

About IFAW

The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW) is one of the largest animal welfare and conservation charities in the world. The organization works to rescue individual animals, safeguard populations, preserve habitat, and advocate for greater protection.

About the Contest

IFAW is excited to announce the 2024 World Wildlife Day (WWD) International Youth Art Contest.

The International Youth Art Contest is held in partnership with the Secretariat of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and FloraΒ (CITES)Β and the United Nations Development ProgrammeΒ (UNDP)!

Wild animals and plants are disappearing at alarming rates. Through the transformational power of art, contestants will raise awareness for wildlife conservation and share the benefits they receive from wild plants and animals.

Theme

This year’s World Wildlife Day is celebrated under the theme of β€œConnecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation”, and aims to highlight how digital technology is used to safeguard biodiversity.

Eligibility Criteria

The contest is open to youth artists aged 4-18. They ask that participants choose a species that benefits from innovative technologies, such as camera traps, tracking collars/tags, and more. The art does not need to portray these devices, just highlights the species for which these methods are in use.

Parents are welcome to research such methods with their student artists. Once the artist has decided on a species, they may depict it as an individual animal portrait or in its native habitat.

To celebrate and acknowledge this year’s theme, they’re adding a digital art category to the contest. Contestants can enter either with traditional art mediums (hand using markers, crayons, colored pencils, and/or paint) or digital art (created with illustration software).
