About the Olympiad

The IOQM exam constitutes the first stage of selection of the 2023-2024 cycle of the Indian Mathematical Olympiad leading to participation in the International Mathematical Olympiad 2024. 

The International Olympiad movement is aimed at bringing secondary and higher secondary students with exceptional mathematical ability and passion for the subject from across the world together in a friendly competition of the highest level.

India has been participating in International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) since 1989 and Indian students have won a large number of medals over the years. For more details visitΒ the Olympiads page of the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education.

Eligibility Criteria

Indian students are eligible to register.

Announcement of the Stages of Selection for the 2023-2024 Cycle

In the 2023-2024 cycle, the selection to the International Mathematical Olympiad Training Camp (IMOTC) will be accomplished in three stages.

First Stage Exam

Indian Olympiad Qualifier in Mathematics (IOQM) 

The IOQM is being conducted by the Mathematics Teachers’ Association (India). More details about the IOQM will be announced in the first week of July 2023 on the MTA(I) website.Β 

  • Date: September 3, 2023.
  • Time: 10 AM to 1 PM IST.

Second Stage Exam

Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO)

  • Date: October 29, 2023.
  • Time: 1 to 4 PM IST.
  • Duration: 3 hours.
  • Number of questions: 06.
  • Each question requires writing detailed proof.

Third Stage Exam

Indian National Mathematical Olympiad (INMO)

  • Number of questions: 06.
  • Date: January 21, 2024.
  • Time: 12 to 4.30 PM IST.
