About Aryabhatta
Aryabhatta (476β550 CE) was the first Mathematician cum astronomer from the classical age. His texts include Aryabhattya (499 CE, written at the age of 23 years) and Arya-Siddhanta.
βAryabhatta made major contributions to the fields of Trigonometry and Algebra. He discovered an approximation of Ο, i.e. Ο = 62832/20000 = 3.1416.
βHe was the pioneer in solving Diophantine equations.
About the Olympiad
The basic Objective of Aryabhatta Maths Olympiad (AMO) is to assess the conceptual understanding of the students in Mathematics at an early stage. The examination builds a strong foundation for various real-world competitive examinations like IIT JEE, NEET, CAT, etc. AMO helps in improving reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills. These skills can be leveraged by the students to stand out in the future competitions.
Eligibility Criteria
All the students of classes 1 to 9 are eligible to appear in the Aryabhatta Maths Olympiad 2024.
AMO Structure
- The examination will be conducted in online mode.
- The examination is of one-hour duration. However, flexibility is provided to appear for the examination at any time in the given 48-hour time slot.
- AMO will be conducted in two Levels. The students satisfying the cut-off marks criteria in Level I (except class 1) will be eligible to appear for the Level II examination.

Level-I Exam
- Section I:
- Total 80 Marks.
- Easy to the medium difficulty level.
- Questions: 40; 2 marks each.
- No negative marking.
- Section II:
- Total 20 Marks.
- Higher difficulty level.
- Questions: 5; 4 marks each.
- No negative marking.
Level-II Exam
- Level -II exam will have only one section as below:
- Medium to high difficulty level.
- Questions: 30; 2 marks each.
- No negative marking.
