The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has changed and revised its books for different classes, including the Class 12 History book by dropping the chapters on the Mughal empire.

The change will apply to all the schools and boards including CBSE, UP, and other state boards that follow the NCERT syllabus throughout the country.

From the Class 12 History book ‘Themes of Indian History Part 2,’ chapters related to ‘Kings and Chronicles; the Mughal Courts (C. 16th and 17th centuries)’ have been removed. Just like this, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) will also remove a few poems and paragraphs from the Hindi textbooks.

According to the NCERT, all the recent changes will be applicable from the current academic session i.e. 2023-2024.

Apart from History and Hindi textbooks, the NCERT has also revised the Class 12 Civics book. 2 chapters have been removed from the textbook called, ‘American Hegemony in World Politics’ and ‘The Cold War Era.’

Among these changes, 2 chapters from the Class 12 book ‘Indian Politics after Independence’ have also been removed which are titled, ‘Rise of Popular Movements’ and ‘Era of One Party Dominance.’

Similarly, the National Council of Educational Research and Training has made changes to Class 10 and Class 11 textbooks. Chapters including ‘Democracy and Diversity,’ ‘Popular Struggles and Movements,’ and ‘Challenges of Democracy’ have been removed from the Class 10 ‘Democratic Politics 2’ book.

Chapters such as ‘Central Islamic Lands,’ ‘Clash of Cultures,’ and ‘Industrial Revolution’ have been dropped from the Class 11 book ‘Themes in World History’.

Assuring these newly made changes, senior officials informed that the latest syllabus & textbooks have been revised and updated from this year and are being implemented in various schools.
