About the Notification

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has always taken significant initiatives to promote scientific curiosity and innovation among school students. One such initiative is the CBSE Science Exhibition, which provides a platform for learners to construct knowledge by connecting new ideas with existing concepts.

For the academic session 2025–26, the CBSE Science Exhibition will be organized at both the Regional and National Levels between October 2025 and January 2026.

Guidelines for Participation

All schools affiliated with CBSE are invited to register their students online between 3rd September 2025 and 26th September 2025 at the official CBSE website.

Important Details

  • Registration Fee: ₹3000 (payable through the online payment gateway)
  • Categories of Participation:
    • Category I: Classes 6–8
    • Category II: Classes 9–11
  • A school may register a maximum of two teams. Each team will include:
    • Up to two students from the same category
    • One mentor science teacher
  • Once registered, the names of students, mentor teacher, project title, and chosen sub-theme cannot be changed.

Nature of Projects

Projects may take the form of:

  • An investigation-based study
  • Application of basic principles of science and technology
  • A novel solution or indigenous design to address a problem or challenge
  • Schools must ensure that eco-friendly materials are used in all exhibits.

Assessment Criteria

Exhibits will be evaluated by a panel of experts on the following basis:

  • Creativity and imagination – 20%
  • Originality and innovativeness – 15%
  • Scientific thought or principle – 15%
  • Technical skills, workmanship, and craftsmanship – 15%
  • Educational value, scalability, and utility for society – 15%
  • Economics (low cost), portability, and durability – 10%
  • Presentation and explanation – 10%

The decision of the judges will be final.

Regional and National Rounds

  • Regional Stage: Conducted across various venues in India. Venue details will be shared with schools through the CBSE Academic website and via email.
  • International Schools: Regional rounds for foreign schools will be conducted online. Teams qualifying at this stage must participate in the National Round in India, bearing their own travel and stay expenses.
  • National Stage: The best exhibits (approximately 14 from each region, subject to quality) will advance to the national level.
  • Exhibits recognized as the best at the national level will:
    • Receive awards and recognition.
    • Be considered for entry into the Rashtriya Bal Vaigyaanik Pradarshani 2026 (organized by NCERT).
    • May also qualify directly for the IRIS National Science Fair 2025–26.
