About the Competition
Vanda is an International Science Competition held annually around the globe. It focuses on the studentβs ability to think critically and creatively to pick out hidden information to aid them in solving the question.
Vanda is for students from primary 3 to secondary 4 (Grade 3 to Grade 11). It follows the Singapore School Science Syllabus with a focus on higher order thinking skills. This allows participants to do better compared to pure-Olympiad papers since they are familiar with most of the topics.
Science Questions in the competition have a strong foundation in scientific knowledge and methodology which include the development of reasoning and analytical skills, decision and problem solving skills, flexible to respond to different context and possessing an open and inquiring mind that is willing to explore new territories and learn new things which are aligned to the desired 21st century competencies and cryptarithms).
Test Format
Section A:
Question 1 to 10: +2 / 0 / β1 point for correct/no/wrong answer respectively
Section B:
Question 11 to 20: +3 / 0 / 0 point for correct/no /wrong answer respectively
Application Question Section:
Question 21 to 23: +3 points for correct answer, 0 points for wrong and no answer.
Question 24 to 25: +4 points for correct answer, 0 points for wrong and no answer.
All students will start with 10 bonus points. Perfect score is 77 points.

- PERFECT SCORE AWARD
GOLD AWARD
SILVER AWARD
BRONZE AWARD - All the participants will receive a Certificate.
- The top 40% of the participants will receive an award certificate and a medal (Gold for top 8%, Silver for next 12% and Bronze for next 20%).
- Perfect scorers will receive a Perfect Score Award and $100 cash each, up to a maximum of $5000 for all the perfect scorers. In the rare event when there are more than 50 perfect scorers, the $5000 will be divided among all the perfect scorers.
