About the Notification
India has always been a land of valour, where countless men and women have laid down their lives in the service of the nation. To keep alive their stories of courage and sacrifice, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India, instituted Project Veer Gatha in 2021. The initiative seeks to disseminate the heroic acts of Gallantry Awardees and the life stories of these brave hearts among students, instilling in them patriotism, civic consciousness, and the indomitable spirit of service to the nation.
Over the years, Project Veer Gatha has become one of the largest storytelling and creative expression initiatives in India, engaging lakhs of students through art, literature, and digital media. Now, in the academic year 2025β26, the Ministry has announced the launch of Project Veer Gatha 5.0, opening yet another chapter in this remarkable journey of connecting young citizens with Indiaβs glorious military heritage.
About Project Veer Gatha
The project encourages students from schools across India (and even abroad, if CBSE-affiliated) to create projects inspired by gallantry award winners. These projects can be in the form of poems, essays, paintings, drawings, short videos, or multimedia presentations, enabling children to creatively express how they perceive courage, sacrifice, and service to the motherland.
Best entries from schools are evaluated at district, state, and national levels, with winners being felicitated and awarded. The initiative ensures that the values of bravery, patriotism, and resilience are passed on to the next generation.
