The Ozone Cell of the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC), Government of India in collaboration with the National Museum of Natural History (NMNH), New Delhi is organizing an online national-level competition for school students during the occasion of World Ozone Day, 2023.

About MoEFCC

The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) is an Indian government ministry. The ministry is responsible for planning, promoting, coordinating, and overseeing the implementation of environmental and forestry programmes in the country.

The main activities undertaken by the ministry include the conservation and survey of the flora of India and fauna of India, forests, and other wilderness areas; prevention and control of pollution; Indian Himalayan Environment and its sustainable development; afforestation, and land degradation mitigation.

It is responsible for the administration of the 1947 national parks of India. The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change is the cadre controlling authority of the Indian Forest Service (IFoS), one of the three All India Services.

About NMNH

The National Museum of Natural History (NMNH) is a museum focusing on nature, located in New Delhi, India. Established in 1972 and opened in 1978, the museum functioned under the Ministry of Environment and Forests of the Government of India.

About the Competition

The competition is organized in the following categories:

  • Poster Making Competition.
  • Slogan Writing Competition (English or Hindi only).

Themes

  • Poster Making Competition: Protection of the Ozone Layer
  • Slogan Writing Competition: Protection of the Ozone Layer, Climate-Friendly Lifestyle Practices to Combat Global Warming.

Eligibility Criteria

Students of classes 8 to 12 can participate.

Prizes

Poster making competition

  • 1st Prize: Rs 10,000.
  • 2nd Prize: Rs 7,000.
  • 3rd Prize: Rs 5,000 and consolation prize (3 Nos.): Rs 2,000.

Slogan writing competition

  • 1st Prize: Rs 5,000.
  • 2nd Prize: Rs 3,000.
  • 3rd Prize: Rs 2,000 and consolation prize (5 Nos.): Rs 1,000.

Submission Procedure

  • One entry per student.
  • The entries should be original.
  • The entries of the Poster must be made on a drawing sheet sized 22×13 inches.
  • Participants must fill in their Name, Class, School Name, Complete Postal address, and Mobile No. with email ID along with a Recommendation of the School Principal/Vice Principal/Headmaster in the given format.
  • Please upload the entries (only one in each category) in the Poster and Slogan writing competition directly on the website. The link is available here.
  • Physical submission of entries will not be accepted.
  • Please upload entries only JPEG & PDF (both) files less than 5MB.
