About the Competition
The International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago is excited to announce the call for submissions for the 41st Chicago Latino Film Festival Poster Competition. This prestigious festival, taking place from April 3-14, 2025, has been a platform for showcasing the rich and diverse selection of films from Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain, Portugal, and the United States for over four decades. As the oldest festival of its kind in the U.S., it continues to celebrate the vibrant cultures of Iberoamerica through cinema.
What is the Poster Competition?
Each year, the festival invites talented artists from around the globe to submit their concepts for the official poster. The winning design becomes the face of the festival, appearing on promotional materials including the program cover, electronic ads, t-shirts, mugs, the festival trailer, and across various social media platforms.
Why Participate?
- Winnerβs Prize: The winning artist will receive a $1,000 cash prize.
- Widespread Exposure: The selected poster will be featured prominently in festival promotions, gaining exposure among an international audience.
- A Chance to Shape the Festivalβs Image: Your artwork could become an integral part of the festivalβs identity, representing the 41st edition of this beloved cultural event.
Submission Guidelines
Artists are encouraged to create designs that reflect the festivalβs mission of celebrating the diverse cultures of Iberoamerica. Here are the key guidelines to keep in mind:
- Incorporate the number 41: The design should include β41β as a reference to this yearβs edition. It could also reference the festivalβs history or legacy.
- Focus on Cultural Diversity: The festival represents many countries and traditions, so the design should avoid focusing on a single culture or specific artifacts.
- Avoid Stereotypes: The design should steer clear of stereotypes, aiming for a sophisticated and inclusive representation.
- Creative Freedom: The committee wants to see your unique vision, and AI-generated designs are not accepted.
- Open to All: Submissions are welcomed from individual artists, collaborative teams, or design firms.
