Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham (or Amrita University) is a private deemed university based in Coimbatore, India. It currently has 7 campuses with 16 constituent schools across the Indian states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka with the headquarters at Ettimadai, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

About the National Science Olympiad

National Science Olympiad (NSO) is a science competition for school students. The core purpose of NSO is to provide a platform to students from various schools around the country, they will have a chance to exhibit their ideas. They get an opportunity to showcase their talent and creativity by introducing innovative concepts or working models relating to specific topics.

Eligibility Criteria

Students from all over the country, who are keen on science and technology can participate in NSO.

Topics

Eco-friendly Materials, Smart Pollution Management, Smart Health, Multi-Model Transport Systems, Smart Management, Renewable Energy, Robotics, Smart Farming, Disaster Management, Smart Waste Management, and Drone Technology.

Application Process

  • Interested students can register online, as a team.
  • A team can consist of 3 to 4 students.
  • There shall be a teacher from your school as a contact point for a team. A teacher can mentor multiple teams from a school.
  • Choose the topic as per your interests.
  • Upload your ideas, not more than 600 words.
  • You need to justify the need for your solution to a problem faced by society.
  • The project should have novelty and use technology. It can be an existing real-time problem around your place.
  • Teams presenting the best ideas will be invited to the Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham Campus, Coimbatore.

Selection Process

  • 1st Round: A team shall submit an abstract of not more than 600 words.
  • 2nd Round: Only those abstracts, accepted by the panellists, shall enter the second round. They shall submit a design and implementation plan in not more than two pages. The document should explain what the team will present during the event and how they plan to do the rest.
  • Final Round: 60 best projects are selected for the final round. Teams can present their ideas onsite at Amrita Viswa Vidyapeetham Campus, Coimbatore, during the event.

  • 1st Prize: Rs 25000/- + Goodies worth Rs 1000.
  • 2nd Prize: Rs 15000/- + Goodies worth Rs 1000.
  • 3rd Prize: Rs 10000/- + Goodies worth Rs 1000.
