Orpheus Sabha Foundation is a not-for-profit company. They seek to give the youth a chance and platform to express their views, hone their research skills, develop their public speaking abilities, and be part of a community that is holistic, inclusive and diverse.

About the Competition

Orpheus Sabha Foundation proudly announces Varnan- 1st National Essay Writing Competition, an initiative to provide passionate writers and thinkers an online platform, designed to provide a level playing field, this competition invites aspiring writers of all backgrounds to showcase their perspectives. 

Varnan offers the opportunity to hone your skills, share ideas and spark meaningful conversations at a national level. Varnan is more than just a competition- it is a chance to inspire and empower.

General Details

  • Mode of the Competition: Online.
  • Language: The competition will be conducted in English.
  • Any participant’s request to postpone the registration date will not be considered.
  • File submission is to be made in both Docx & PDF formats.
  • Submission made by the participant by Google form which shall be sent to their email IDs.
  • 50% similarity of two or more drafts will lead to the disqualification of the participants from the competition.
  • The participants would hold all the rights over their draft after the competition ends.
  • Non-adherence of any of the guidelines may lead to disqualification of the participants.

Bharat@100 – Envisaging India as an Economic Superpower.

  • Engineering: “The Role of Engineering Innovations in Driving India’s Economic Growth: Infrastructure, Technology, and Sustainability”
  • Medical: “Healthcare’s Contribution to India’s Economic Development: The Role of the Medical Sector in Building a Productive Workforce”
  • Law: “Legal Reforms and Economic Growth: Strengthening India’s Business Environment through Effective Legislation”
  • Social Sciences: “Social Development as a Pillar of Economic Growth: Education, Gender Equality, and Rural Empowerment in India’s Economic Transformation”

Who is it for?

Students enrolled in a UG/PG program in a recognized College/University. Individuals or a team of 2 members may register for the competition.

Formatting Guidelines

  • The Essay submitted must contain the following: Essay Title: A creative title apt with the body of the submission Topic Chosen: Must mention the topic chosen out of the provided list of topics
  • The main text must be in: Times New Roman, Size 12, Line spacing – 1.5, No paragraph spacing, One-inch margin on each side, and the alignment of the text should be justified.
  • Footnotes must be in: Times New Roman, Size 10, Single Line Spacing, Page numbers must be given in the Essay.
  • The Essay shall not exceed the word limit of 3000 words (excluding citations).
  • The file should not contain any detail of the Participant, except the team code.
  • The cover page of the submission should include the title of the essay, the topic chosen along with the team code on the top right side of the cover page.
  • The content of the essay should be original and not plagiarized (15% limit), or there shall be a deduction of 1 mark each for every per cent which can lead to disqualification. The decision of the organizers shall be final.

  • Last Day of Registartion- 20th February 2025.
  • Last day of submission- 28th February 2025.

Prizes

Cash Prize pool up to 1.5 Lakhs. Prizes for top 20 winners. The top 10 participants will be awarded LOR and the 21st to 30th rank will be awarded with certificates of merit. Participation Certificates to all participants.
