The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a national-level board of education in India for public and private schools, controlled and managed by the Government of India.
About the Program
The Central Board of Secondary Education launched the Adolescent Peer Educators Leadership in Life Skills, Health, and Wellbeing program on November 23, 2021. The Board has taken the initiative to launch and support this program in partnership with Expressions India.
Since then 78 batches of online trainings have been completed in which 7536 students and 3768 Teacher Mentors from 1915 schools have been trained.
Aims of the Programme
The primary aim of the program is to enhance the physical, mental, and interpersonal capabilities of senior students, designated as Peer Educators, along with the School Counsellors or 1-2 Nodal teachers chosen by the school.
This capacity-building initiative seeks to ensure the effective implementation of Life Skills Education within schools. The students who undergo this training form the School’s Master Trainer Group, responsible for conducting Life Skills orientation programs for other members within their own school and neighboring schools.
Eligibility Criteria
The Board will start the Fourth phase of the online training program in the month of October 2023. The schools are requested to send their nominations as per the following guidelines:
- Nominate four senior students (Peer Educators) – two each from classes IX and XI to participate in the comprehensive orientation program.
- Also, nominate one Teacher and the School Counselor/Wellness Teacher to support the 4 peer educators.
Note: The school can register four students from class IX in case the school is affiliated till X. While nominating the representative Peer Educators Team, please ensure that all the team members have the following:
- Enthusiasm and commitment to teamwork.
- Good communication skills and empathy for peers.
- Ability to model and lead appropriate behavior for others.
- Zeal for knowledge and sensitivity toward health and well-being issues.
Benefits
Certificate of Participation (e-certificate) will be awarded to the participating Students and Teachers.
How to Register?
- Participating schools are required to fill up the online registration form here.
- A brief note (400 words) of the online activities being carried out by the school for the promotion of Life Skills, Holistic Health, and Wellbeing should also be submitted along with the registration form.
- The last date for filling out the online registration form is September 10, 2023. Only online registration forms will be acceptable.
Number of Schools Per Program
Around 50 schools shall be enrolled per training program. The schedule of these trainings shall be informed to the respective schools. Certificate of Participation (e-certificate) will be awarded to the participating Students and Teachers.
Important Note
School Heads are urged to actively promote and support the participation of students, teachers, and counselors in fostering a continuous climate of life skills education within their schools.
