Applications are open and invited for the UNESCO Clubs 2023 Worldwide Youth Multimedia Competition. The last date for submission of the entries is March 31, 2023.

About the Competition

Youth around the world are invited to take part in this year’s UNESCO Youth Multimedia Competition. Unparalleled connectivity has put youth in one of the greatest positions to bring much-needed change to the world.

UNESCO’s mission is to mobilize the optimism of youth to respond to an acute world problem to serve others now. Last year, motivated participants from over 161 countries submitted over 5000 projects to the UNESCO Youth Multimedia Competition.

Theme

The theme: Take action, share your voice, and be the change.

To take part, follow the steps below:

  • Step A: Pick one of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals.
  • Step B: Develop a project related to the Sustainable Development Goal you choose. This includes writing out.
    • What is your project? and why is it important?
    • What are your project goals/objectives?
    • Where will you do your project? For Example, You can do your project with your school, church, community, or organization.
    • What is your time frame? (when you will start and complete your project?)
  • Step C: Do your Project. Remember to take videos, pictures and document your results and the impact of your project, and anything you feel is important to share.
  • Step D: Create a Video, Presentation, or Essay with Images sharing the answers to the above questions in step 2 with the results you achieved and anything else you feel is important to share. Put it all together and send it back to UNESCO.

Eligibility Criteria

There are the age groups for participants:

  • Juniors (Ages 10-14);
  • Youth Ages (15-19);
  • Young Adult (Ages 20-24).

Prizes

The three finalists in each age group will receive an official certificate with their names.

They will have an invitation to UNESCO’s Builders of the Universe Camp held at Hood College in Frederick, Maryland, USA. The invitation will include a scholarship for the fee for the camp, food, accommodations, and transport to and from the airport. Airfare is not included.

There will be a special ceremony held for contest winners at the camp. In addition, the top 9 winners will be recognized and showcased in global events during the year. This is a tremendous opportunity for youth to build leadership skills, learn how the United Nations conducts itself, and meet youth from around the world.

Winners will be publicized on USFUCA and UNESCO websites.

​WhizJuniors will sponsor a one-year online subscription for all the participants to get access to 125+ tech courses, solve MCQS, complete practicals and submit projects.

​Zaka will sponsor: All participants will receive access to 4 courses and a monthly zoom masterclass. Courses title: (AI for everyone, Getting Started with Python for Data Science, Introduction to Programming).

Submission Rules

Make sure your entry follows the submission guidelines prior to submitting:

  • The work has to be relevant to the question.
  • Your work must be original.
  • All participants need to fill out the Submission Form.
  • Please make sure your essay satisfies the following formatting criteria:
    • 12-point Times New Roman.
    • Double-spaced.
    • 500-700 words in English in MLA format and images.
  • Videos must be 3 minutes maximum.
  • All presentations and essays with images need to be sent in PDF format.
  • 1 entry per person.
