How did you apply to this School?

I applied to this school only after I got to know about the scholarships here.

What are some of the good things about the faculty of your School?

  • The school faculty holds qualifications and provides resources for the students to learn.
  • The school faculty is welcoming and helpful. They try to make new students comfortable!
  • They have the enthusiasm to teach students, to make students learn is really appreciable.
  • Good at communication with students.
  • Flexible and respectful of the students.

What are some of the bad things about the faculty of your School?

  • Routine and regular in their teaching styles.
  • They lack in-depth knowledge of their respective subjects.
  • Relating to the above point, sometimes they were unable to diagnose learning problems.
  • They had poor classroom control. There used to be a nuisance created by students which was not controlled by them.

What are some of the good things about the infrastructure of your School?

  • The school had a small building leading to a close-knit community. It enabled us to connect and communicate well. The classrooms were open and well-ventilated with appropriate lighting and fans. Sanitation and hygiene were well maintained. Assistance for small children to use washrooms. It was amidst greenery which provided a fresh environment.

What are some of the bad things about the infrastructure of your School?

The school building needs finishing and needs to be maintained well. There were no amenities like a library, canteen, computer labs, dance or art room, no laboratories (chemistry, physics or biology) etc. No water coolers or appropriate water facility. No game equipment for the students. There were only 2 buses available for transportation.

What are some of the good things about the teacher-to-student ratio of your School?

The school has low strength of students which was approximately 20 students to 1 teacher. A teacher-to-student ratio allows the teacher to know students’ strengths and weaknesses. They can connect to the students well, students can voice their opinions and make their needs known.

What are some of the bad things about the teacher-to-student ratio of your School?

Despite the presence of a low teacher-to-student ratio in this school, it was very unlikely to channel the learning towards the development of students. I also felt that there were fewer teachers available at that time when I attended the school. The workload of teachers was not well distributed because, in the name of the low strength of students, they would appoint a single teacher for as many classes as possible.

What are some of the great initiatives/amenities offered in your School?

When I trace back to my memories of the school, I don’t have so many good things to mention leaving a few ones. Since this school was located in the rural side where local people were coming up in the school, it helped the students like me to know other students well. Also, there used to be plantations by students on most of the festivals. Certain activities were encouraged on different cultural aspects. Like on Lohri, we would come outside and assemble. Then there was a celebration of Lohri with folk songs and dances by students.

What are the things you would have liked to change about your School if you could?

  • The most important thing to know about this school is that it provides minimum facilities that a student can continue with. There have to be many upgrades in this school’s infrastructure along with resources, also to make students competent in today’s modern world.
  • No computer lab: This is an important point since the students who study here have nearly no digital education.
  • English speaking: besides being an English medium school, here you will not find a single person conversing in English. In my case, it did hamper my skills. English is a global language now, and not knowing the English language can seriously be detrimental to the future.

How likely are you to recommend this School to other students?

2 out of 10.
