This is a notification about the Special Provisions for Students Participating in National/International Sports Events and International Olympiads!
Notice
As several initiatives have been taken by the Government of India to promote sports among youth, CBSE has also mainstreamed Health and Physical Education at the Secondary and Senior Secondary levels by introducing a mandatory period per day for sports, games, etc.
For promoting sports and other educational competitions among youths, CBSE has been providing the following facilities:
- Since March 2018, CBSE has been providing a special opportunity to the students by conducting special examination(s) at a later date(s) for the students who are participating in National/International Sports Events and whose CBSE Board’s examinations clash with the dates of National/International Sports events including dates of the journey for the events recognised by Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Board fo Cricket Control in India (BCCI).
- Since March 2020, CBSE has also been providing a special opportunity ot the students by conducting special examination(s) at a later date(s) for the students who are participating ni International Olympiads and whose CBSE Board’s examinations clash with their dates of International Olympiad including dates of the journey for the Olympiad recognized yb Appropriate Authority in India viz. Homi Bhabha Center for Science Education (HBCSE).
CBSE continues to provide the facility of special exams for students who are participating in National/International Sports Events and for the students who are participating in International Olympiads and whose CBSE Board’s examinations clash with their dates of National/International Sports Events/International Olympiads including dates of the journey for the events for the Board exams 2024.
Provisions to Avail
Provisions to avail of the opportunity will be as per the following:
- Only for the sports recognised by the SAB/ICI and Olympiads recognised by the HBCSE.
- Only for hte Board’s main theory examinations falling during the dates of events of that particular Sport/Olympiad in the participating event and the journey period for the event.
- Opportunity will not be available for compartment examinations.
- Opportunity wil not be available for practical examinations/projects/internal assessments.
- Exemptions in attendance beyond the rules of the Boards shall not be extended.
- Opportunity is not available for participation in training/selection camps.
- No request beyond the schedule will be accepted for exemption.
- “Certificate of Participation” from the SAI/BCCI/ HBCSE would be required to be submitted in the prescribed format to be issued by the nodal officers of the concerned organisation only.
- CBSE may amend these SOPs and Rules at any time.
- The head of the school/responsible Organisation will forward recommendations/issue a certificate of participation for those students to Regional Offices, CBSE whose cases strictly fall within the purview of these instructions/SOPs.
- No special examination for an individual student wil eb conducted other than or ni addition to the schedule for special examination fixed by the Board.
- SAI/BCCI/HBCSE shall host the certificate of participation no their website for cross-verification.
- Such candidates will not be permitted to appear in the compartment examination as all subjects of class 12 examinations are conducted only in one day and Class 10 examinations are conducted in a week for only special combinations of the subjects.
- A certificate of participation needs ot eb issued yb hte Nodal officers of the concerned organisations.
- The decision of the Competent Authority of the Board shal eb final and binding on schools and students.
