About CBSE

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a national level board of education in India for public and private schools, controlled and managed by the Government of India. Established in 1929 by a resolution of the government, the Board was an experiment towards inter-state integration and cooperation in the sphere of secondary education. There are more than 27,000 schools in India and 240 schools in 28 foreign countries affiliated to the CBSE. All schools affiliated to CBSE follow the NCERT curriculum especially from class 9 to 12. The current Chairperson of CBSE is Nidhi Chibber, IAS.

The constitution of the Board was amended in 1952 to give its present name, the Central Board of Secondary Education. The Board was reconstituted on 1 July 1962 so as to make its services available to students and various educational institutions in the entire country.

Notice

As you are aware that ‘Har Ghar Tiranga Program’ is scheduled to be observed as a part of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’, to encourage citizens to hoist the National Flag of India in their homes. In this reference the following activity are suggested for schools to be conducted:

  • Special assembly sessions may be organized in schools with each day dedicated to a particular aspect of Tiranga.
  • Prabhat Pheries may be organized, wherever possible, with students holding flags between 11th-15th August 2023.
  • Every school may participate by hoisting the National Flag on the said dates.
  • A dedicated website https://harghartiranga[dot]com/ has been created for uploading of selfies with Tiranga.
  • All students, teachers, other staff members and parents may be encouraged to also hoist the National Flag at their respective homes.
  • Salient features of Flag Code of India, 2002 as well as FAQs about use/ display of Indian National Flag, as received from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Govt. of India are enclosed. (Annexure 1).
  • All precautions against Covid-19 pandemic need to be observed during this program.

You are requested to disseminate the above information among all stakeholders and generate momentum through special outreach activities for making it a people-centric movement.
