The Innovation Hub of Nehru Science Centre, Worli, Mumbai is organizing an Integrated Science Session from October to December 2023 and is seeking registration for it from students of classes 6 to 10.
About the Organizer
National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), the parent body of Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai, is an autonomous society under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India with 25 Science Centres/Museums all over the country.
It has the best infrastructure and skilled manpower to conceptualize, design, develop and organize high-quality science exhibits and other related educational programmes and activities.
Nehru Science Centre has more than 500 hands-on and interactive science exhibits on energy, sound, kinematics, mechanics, transport, etc. installed in the science park & different galleries.
About the Session
Innovation Hub is aimed at supplementing school education by seeking new ways to bring innovative thinking and approaches among the students.
The activities for the students are organized at Innovation Hub on every Saturday (Integrated Science) for four hours between 11.00 AM to 4.00 PM. and Sunday (Robotics & Arduino) for three hours between 1.30 PM to 4.30 PM.
They have designed a curriculum for these students for 3 months duration (approx. 40 β 44 hours).
Components
The components of the Integrated Science curriculum are:
- An inquiry-based, Hands-on science learning approach.
- Real-life problem identification & solution finding, carrying out investigative types of projects under the guidance of experts and mentors.
- Activities on thinking out-of-the-box, Idea generation, and understanding the power of collaboration.
- Design challenges, Kabad se Jugad (Toys from trash), Tod Fod Jod (Dismantle and assemble simple household gadgets), and many other exciting activities.
The components of the Robotics curriculum are:
- Kits used by students: Lego Mindstorm EV3 kits.
- The basics of assembly of robots.
- The basic concepts of programming.
- Use of sensors.
- Real-life problem identification & finding solutions using robotics.

It is open to students of classes 6 to 10.
