About the Museum

The Natural History Museum in London is a museum that exhibits a vast range of specimens from various segments of natural history. It is one of three major museums on Exhibition Road in South Kensington, the others being the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Competition Details

The Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year 61 competition is open for entries. There is no fee to enter the Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition.

Categories

For Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year, you can submit up to 10 photos into one of the three age group categories.

  • 10 Years and Under.
  • 11–14 Years.
  • 15–17 Years.

Images can cover any aspect of wildlife and the natural world, whether wild plants or animals or their natural environments, or illustrate our interaction with nature, good or bad.

The winner of each age category will be considered for the Young Wildlife Photographer of the Year title.

Competition Rules

  • Photographs must have been shot within the past five years. The capture date must be after October 2019 and evidenced on request.
  • All entries must be of non-captive wild animals, plants, fungi, landscapes and habitats, with the exception as set out.
  • You must not do anything to injure or distress an animal or damage its habitat in an attempt to secure a photograph. This includes flying (or flying a drone) too low or noisily over an animal and taking photographs at nests using wide angle lenses although telephotos lenses are permitted.Β 
  • Entries must not deceive the viewer or attempt to disguise and/or misrepresent
    the reality of nature.

Prizes

  • Β£1,500, trophy and a personalised certificate.
  • Two-day masterclass with a professional photographer.
  • A feature article in the Natural History Museum’s WILD WORLD magazine (February 2024 issue).
