About Kerala Forest Department

Kerala Forest Department is a law enforcement agency for the state of Kerala, India. Over 75% of the land area of Kerala was covered by forests until the 18th century.

Contest Details

Kerala Forest Department is inviting submissions for Wildlife Short Film Contest 2023. This contest is open to any Indian citizen irrespective of their age. There is no entry fee for the contest.

Theme

The short film should be related to Nature and Wildlife, filmed in the State of Kerala.

Language

The language of the film shall be in English or Malayalam. No other language will be accepted. 

Period of Production

Films produced during the period 2021-2023 only will be accepted. 

Entry Limits

Each participant will be allowed to submit only one entry in this contest. If more than one entry is submitted, the entry received first alone will be considered. If a participant/contestant submits more than one entry in a single cover, the application will be rejected.

Technical Specifications

  • The length of the video file should be a minimum of 5 minutes and a maximum of 26 minutes. Any camera including mobile phone can be used for filming. 
  • The video file format should be MOV or MP4. 
  • Full HD (1920 Γ— 1080) or higher resolution.
  • Stereo mix or higher.

Selection

The entries will be evaluated by a panel of judges (Jury). The Judges will be eminent personalities with rich experience in wildlife videography/photography. The Jury’s decisions will be final and binding and no correspondence or discussion will be entered into regarding the judging process or any of the outcomes reached. Winners will be notified by email and/or telephone on the 4th of October 2023.

Prizes

The First, Second and Third prize winners will be awarded a Cash Prize of Rs. 30000, Rs.20000 and Rs.10000 respectively (subject to pending Govt. orders), along with a Certificate of Recognition. In addition, Certificates of Merit will be awarded to two entries as a consolation prize.

How to Submit?

The video file should be submitted in Pen Drive or DVD or Hard disk alongwith the duly filled registration form in the prescribed format in a sealed cover. Once submitted, the medium (Pen Drive or DVD or Hard disk) will be the property of the KFD and the same will not be returned to the contestant. Also, the video file should be uploaded in the contestant’s Google drive account and the link shared to wlwshortfilm2023[at]gmail[dot]com with “Can view only” permission.

The google drive link alone will not be considered as a valid entry to the Contest and only those entries submitted in Pen Drive or DVD or Hard disk along with the duly filled in application form will be considered for evaluation.
