About CBSE
TheΒ Central Board of Secondary EducationΒ (CBSE) is a national-level board of education in India for public and private schools, controlled and managed by theΒ Government of India. Established in 1929 by a resolution of the government, the Board was an experiment towards inter-state integration and cooperation in the sphere of secondary education. There are more than 27,000 schools in India and 240 schools in 28 foreign countries affiliated with the CBSE. All schools affiliated with CBSE follow theΒ NCERTΒ curriculum, especially those in classes 9 to 12. The current Chairperson of CBSE is Rahul Singh,Β IAS.
About the Event
The Department of School Education & Literacy, Ministry of Education, in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog, has announced the launch of the Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025, a transformative initiative to ignite innovation, creativity, and problem-solving skills among school students.
This nationwide movement aligns with the grand vision of Viksit Bharat @2047 and aims to bring together over 1 crore students across 1.5 lakh+ schools to design and develop impactful solutions for the future of India.

Themes of the Buildathon
Students will work in teams to ideate, innovate, and prototype under four central themes:
- Vocal for Local β Promoting indigenous products and innovations.
- Atmanirbhar Bharat β Fostering self-reliance through innovation.
- Swadeshi β Celebrating Indian knowledge, culture, and technology.
- Samriddh Bharat β Creating solutions for a prosperous and sustainable future.
Key Highlights of Viksit Bharat Buildathon 2025
- Launch: 23rd September 2025, 1:15 PM by Honβble Minister of Education.
- School-Level Innovation Activities: 23rd September β 12th October 2025.
- National Live Buildathon: 13th October 2025, inaugurated by the Honβble Prime Minister with simultaneous participation of students nationwide.
- Submission of Entries: 14th β 31st October 2025.
- Recognition: Top 10,000 entries will receive national recognition, mentoring opportunities, and possible corporate adoption of prototypes.
Participation Guidelines
- Eligibility: Students of Classes VI to XII.
- Team Size: 5β7 students per team.
- School Participation: Schools may register multiple teams.
- Resources: Detailed toolkits, guidelines, and submission portals will be provided on the official Buildathon website (link to be shared soon).
