Department of Aerospace Engineering, IISc, is organising the Minidrone Competition India 2024. The deadline for registration is July 31, 2024.

About the Competition

Get an introduction to Model-Based Design while challenging your peers. You’ll design a line follower algorithm using Simulink and learn how to model, simulate, and fly a minidrone.

Competition Structure

The MathWorks Minidrone Competition will introduce participants to Model-Based Design using Simulink. The competition consists of two rounds:

  • Round 1 is Simulation Round: Teams will work virtually on designing a Minidrone line follower
algorithm. Teams will need to use their modeling skills to refine a Simulink model.
  • Round 2 is Simulation and Hardware Deployment Round: The teams that qualify from Round 1 will be invited to the Round 2 live event. Teams will deploy their Simulink model at the live event on the Parrot Mambo Minidrone hardware using the Simulink Support Package for Parrot Minidrones. OR
  • Virtual Round: The teams that qualify from Round 1 will be invited to join virtual Round 2 event. During the virtual event, a short video submitted by the teams about
the approach used to solve the problem will be showcased. This will be followed by some questions and answers with the team captain. MathWorks will provide each participating team with complimentary software to work on the problem statement. The teams will also be provided with the Parrot Mambo Fly drone, batteries
and, dongle on the day of the competition in case of an in-person event.
