Registrations are invited for Annual Inter-School Science Quiz Contest 2024-25 by Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai. The last date of registrations is September 22, 2024.
About the Centre
Nehru Science Centre is the largest interactive science centre in India. It is located in Worli, Mumbai. The centre is named after India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru. In 1977, the centre started with the ‘Light and Sight’ exhibition, and then in 1979 a Science Park was built.
Quiz Details
Nehru Science Centre, Mumbai in association with the Rotary Club of Bombay Pier and the Rotary Club of Bombay Queen City has organized the Annual Interschool Science Quiz Competition for the year 2024-25. The entries are accepted through schools only. Kindly download & fill up the Application form and send it to Nehru Science Centre on or before 22nd September 2024 by post or by email. The entry to participate in the contest is FREE!
Eligibility
- Category A: For Std. 5 to 7
- Category B: For Std. 8 to 10.
Contest Rules
- The contest will be held among school teams represented by TWO STUDENTS for each category.
- Once the names of the students are registered, no changes will be allowed in the team composition except in unavoidable circumstances that too at preliminary round stage only and with prior permission.
- The contest will be conducted in Marathi / Hindi / English only.
- Questions will be based on school curricula of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Social Science, General Sciences as well as on logical reasoning and scientific aptitude. Awareness on current issues in science & technology and knowledge on the exhibits of the Science Centre will also be checked.
Organisation of the Contest
- Schools are requested to nominate a team of TWO students in each category for the quiz.
- Both the registered teams will appear for a Written Test.
- Please note that both the students will solve the question paper jointly.
- The result of written test will be announced on the website & will also be displayed at the centre.
- The top 32 schools selected in the written test will be eligible for the verbal rounds. The TWO nominated students will participate in verbal rounds in both the categories.
- The verbal rounds will be held according to the draw decided by Nehru Science Centre.
- The schedule of the verbal rounds as well as entry passes for the same will be sent to the 32 schools selected in the written test.
- Each contest will be held among four Schools. There will be at least 6 sets of questions, each having four questions. The contest will consist of different rounds such as direct, visual, demonstration, rapid fire etc. The time, points allotted and the order of asking the questions may be different for each round and will be explained at the time of the contest.
Team Prizes
- Winner Team: Rs. 8000/-
- Runner Team: Rs. 6000/-
- Third Prize (2 Nos.): Rs. 8000/- Rs. 4000/- to each team (Worth Rs. 2000/- to each student)
- Fourth Prize (4 Nos.): Β Rs. 8000/- Rs. 2000/- to each team (Worth Rs. 1000/- to each student)
Trophies will also be awarded to the winning school.
