About the Contest

In honor of the upcoming Gandhi Jayanti celebrations, schools in Mumbai are gearing up for a special event—a patriotic group singing competition exclusively for primary students (Std. I to IV). Organized by Gandhi Smarak Nidhi, this exciting event aims to promote national pride through the art of music, while staying true to the cultural roots of Marathi and Hindi languages.

Event Overview

  1. What: Group Singing Competition (Patriotic Songs)
  2. Who: Primary Students (Std. I to IV)

  • Marathi: Thursday, October 3, 2024, at 11:30 a.m.
  • Hindi: Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11:30 a.m.

Important Guidelines

  • Song Selection: The songs must be patriotic in nature. Film songs are strictly prohibited.
  • Language: Competitions will be held in Marathi and Hindi. Each school can send one group for each language.
  • Group Composition:
  • Each group must consist of a minimum of eight (8) and a maximum of ten (10) students.
  • Each group can have a maximum of three accompanists. Schools must send at least one musical instrument player.
  • Time Limit: Each group will have 5 minutes to perform their song.
  • Prizes: There will be three prizes in each language. If there are fewer than ten (10) entries, the decision of the judges will be final.
  • Acting Prohibited: No form of acting or dramatic performance is allowed during the singing.
  • Uniform Requirement: Students must perform in their school uniforms and carry their identity cards.
  • Instruments: The organizers will provide a harmonium at the event, but schools are encouraged to bring their own musical instrument players to accompany the singers.

How to Register?

  • Submit a Copy of the Song and Participants List: Each participating school is required to submit a typed list of the participants’ full names in the following format:
  • No. | Name of the Student | Std | Name of the School | Language
  • The list should be submitted at Nidhi’s office at the time of the competition, and also sent via email in EXCEL FORMAT to: competitions[at]gsnmumbai[dot]org.
  • Entry Form Deadline: The entry form must be submitted to the Gandhi Smarak Nidhi Office by Tuesday, September 24, 2024. The school should clearly mention the language and the number of participants on the form.
