CBSE has released a notification on celebration of National Space Day in schools. The last day for report submission is August 24, 2024.
About the Notification
The Government of India has officially declared August 23rd as National Space Day to honor the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, which achieved a historic soft landing on the Moon at βShiv Shaktiβ point on August 23, 2023. This day will be celebrated annually to inspire the nation’s youth about space technology and its applications.
As we prepare for the maiden National Space Day in August 2024, schools across the country are encouraged to actively participate in the celebrations. The goal is to foster a deep interest in space science among students, engaging them in Indiaβs remarkable achievements in space exploration.

Suggested Activities for Schools
- Chandrayaan Modules: Last year, 10 grade-specific modules on Chandrayaan were launched and translated into 13 regional languages. Schools are encouraged to popularize these modules among students and teachers. The modules can be accessed at this link.
- Special Classes/Workshops: On August 22nd and 23rd, 2024, schools can organize special classes, workshops, demonstrations, and lectures focusing on Chandrayaan, ISROβs other achievements like the Aditya mission, and space technology.
- Bharat on the Moon Portal: Students should be encouraged to register on the Bharat on the Moon portal and participate in various activities offered there.
- Competitions: Schools can host quiz and painting competitions, and invite eminent personalities to engage students on the theme of space.
