About the Notification

India’s linguistic heritage is one of the richest in the world. With hundreds of languages spoken across its vast and diverse landscape, our nation is a living embodiment of multilingualism. In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes the importance of multilingual education and cultural awareness, the Government of India has announced the Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camps (BBSC) 2025, a transformative initiative to nurture language learning among school children.

What Are Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camps?

The Bharatiya Bhasha Summer Camps are designed to expose young students to the beauty and diversity of Indian languages in a fun, engaging, and interactive setting. These camps aim to foster curiosity, appreciation, and basic communication skills in multiple Indian languages during the summer vacation period.

Key Highlights

  • Organized in Schools: All schools are encouraged to host the Summer Camps during their respective vacation periods, depending on local academic calendars.
  • Duration: Each camp will run for a total of 28 hours, conducted in physical mode.
  • Participation: A minimum of 75–100 students per school is expected to participate.
  • Focus Areas:
    • Self-introduction in different languages
    • Vocabulary building
    • Real-life conversational practice
    • Cultural appreciation activities
    • Confidence building in multilingual communication

Institutional Support

The initiative is supported by a strong network of educational bodies:

  • NCERT will serve as the nodal organisation and technical partner, providing rich resource materials and pedagogical tools.
  • State Education Departments, SCERTs, and DIETs will coordinate the implementation at state and district levels.

This collaborative effort underscores the critical role schools play in realizing the NEP 2020 vision by integrating multilingual learning into mainstream education.
