In the series of various programmes organized on Indian languages, a webinar based on the life and works of Rashtrakavi Shri. Ramdhari Singh Dinkar Ji is being scheduled by the Training Unit, CBSE on his death anniversary on 24th April, 2024.
Shri. Ramdhari Singh Dinkar Ji (23 September 1908 – 24 April 1974), known by his pen name Dinkar, is ,truly, a Luminary of Hindi Literature and one of the most prominent modern Hindi writers. He is referred to as Rashtrakavi, meaning the National Poet of India, in recognition of his patriotic verses and significant contribution to the Indian literary scene. He wrote in Khari Boli (a dialect of Hindi) and his literary journey is marked by a rich tapestry of poetry, essays, and critiques that deeply reflect upon the socio-political issues of his time, including the struggle for Indian independence, the post-independence era, and also on the timeless struggles of humanity. His notable works are “Rashmirathi”,”Kurukshetra” and “Urvashi”.
Shri Ramdhari Singh Dinkar Ji received numerous awards and honours for his contribution to Indian literature, including the prestigious Padma Bhushan in 1959 and Jnanpith Award in 1972. He was elected three times to Rajya Sabha and also adorned the seat of the Vice-Chancellor of Bhagalpur University.
