Online applications are invited for the Dr. Homi Bhabha Balvaidnyanik Competition 2023-24 by Greater Bombay Science Teachers Association. The last date for applications is July 31, 2023.
About the Competition
Dr. Homi Bhabha Balvaidnyanik Competition is conducted in an offline mode by Greater Bombay Science Teachers’ Association (GBSTA) since 1981.
This unique four-stage competition aims to arouse curiosity and a problem-solving attitude along with the development of precision in observational and motor skills in young scientists.
Through the competition, GBSTA also aims at sensitizing students towards their immediate environment and daring them to take rational initiatives whenever needed.
Eligibility
- Students studying only in 6th standard and 9th standard are eligible to take part in the competition.
- Students from the Semi-English section can go for English or Marathi medium as per their comfort level. The selected medium will remain the same for all further stages of the competition.
- The student must be enrolled in a school affiliated with the Maharashtra SSC/CBSE/ICSE/IB/Other State Boards.
Regions
- Mumbai: Mumbai and Mumbai Suburban.
- Thane: Thane, Palghar, Raigad.
- Pune: Pune, Solapur, Ahmadnagar.
- Nashik: Nashik, Dhule, Jalgaon, Nandurbar.
- Kolhapur: Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, Ratnagiri & Sindhudurg.
- Sambhajinagar: Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Hingoli, Parbhani.
- Vidharbh: Akola, Buldhana, Amravati, Washim, Yavatmal, Wardha, Nagpur, Bhandara, Gondia, Gadchiroli, Chandrapur.
- Latur: Beed, Latur, Dharashiv, Nanded.
- Other Than Maharashtra: All states in India (Only for another region, If registered through a school with a minimum of 50 students then the center is in your school in any state, Otherwise center will be in Maharashtra preferred by you.
Important Dates
- Last Date of Registration: July 31, 2023.
- Accepting Online Entry Forms with Late Fee: August 1, 2023, to August 10, 2023 (with a late fee of Rs 25 per student).
- Offline Theory Competition: 3rd Week of October 2023.
- Result of Theory Competition: Last Week of November 2023.
- Offline Practical Competition: Class 9: January 7, 2024, & Class 6: January 21, 2024.
- Result of Practical Competition: First Week of February 2024.
- Submission of Action Research Project Report through Mail: March 11, 2024.
- Offline General Interview: March 17, 2024.
- Offline Action Research Project Interview: March 17, 2024.
- Prize Distribution Ceremony: April 7, 2024.

Registration Fees
- For all regions & all types of schools (With regular fee): Rs. 320.
- For individual student registration (Students who are not able to register his/her name through school): Rs. 500.
Prizes
Candidates will get a bronze medal, gold medal, silver medal, certificate, scholarship, and other awards for their performance.
