Registrations are invited for the International General Knowledge Olympiad 2023 by Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) for class 1 to 10 students.

About Science Olympiad Foundation

Established in 1998, Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) is an educational foundation based in New Delhi, India. Through various Olympiads, it promotes science, mathematics, general knowledge, introductory computer education, social studies, professional skills, and English language skills among schoolchildren in India and many other countries.

About the International General Knowledge Olympiad

The SOF International General Knowledge Olympiad is a single level exam.

The International Commerce Olympiad (IMO) is a general knowledge competition for classes 1 to 10 students. It is conducted by Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) with the aim of evaluating students’ general knowledge and comprehension. There is only one level for this olympiad:

  • The level 1 competition is a test of 60 minutes duration comprising 35 objective-type (Multiple Choice) questions for classes 1 to class 4 and 50 objective-type (Multiple Choice) questions for classes 5 to class 10.

Important Dates

SOF IGKO will be conducted on two dates, as under. A school may select one date to conduct the SOF ICO at its convenience.

  • Date 1: September 21, 2023.
  • Date 2: October 10, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria

There are no specific eligibility criteria for the IGKO exam 2023. Students studying in classes 1 to 10 are eligible to apply for the exam.

How to Register?

Students should register through their respective schools. Individual registrations by students are not accepted.

Registration Fees

After filling out the complete SOF IGKO form 2023, students have to pay a registration fee of Rs. 125 (including GST) to school authorities. No fee is payable for students with any major physical disability or a student whose parent was martyred during defence operations. Schools may take additional fees of Rs. 25 as an honorarium towards the teacher to guide students for the exam.

Exam Pattern & Marking Scheme

The SOF International General Knowledge Olympiad is conducted at only level only:

Level 1

The level 1 competition is a test of 60 minutes duration comprising 35 objective-type (Multiple Choice) questions for class 1 to class 4 and 50 objective-type (Multiple Choice) questions for class 5 to class 10.

The question paper consists of four sections:

  • Section 1: General Awareness.
  • Section 2: Current Affairs.
  • Section 3: Life Skills.
  • Section 4: Achievers Section.

SOF IGKO is conducted on two dates for Level 1. Each school may select a date for conducting the SOF IGKO at its convenience. There are separate question papers for each date of the exam. Change of date for conducting the SOF ICO is not permitted.

The medium of the test is English.

CBSE, ICSE/ISC and State Board syllabi are followed for setting the test papers. 

The exam is conducted during school hours.

Syllabus

The syllabus of the Olympiads is the syllabus as prescribed by the CBSE, ICSE, and various state boards. If you sit for the second level and have moved on to the next class, the syllabus will remain the same (i.e. of the previous class).
