About CBSE

TheΒ Central Board of Secondary EducationΒ (CBSE) is a national level board of education in India for public and private schools, controlled and managed by theΒ Government of India. Established in 1929 by a resolution of the government, the Board was an experiment towards inter-state integration and cooperation in the sphere of secondary education. There are more than 27,000 schools in India and 240 schools in 28 foreign countries affiliated to the CBSE. All schools affiliated to CBSE follow theΒ NCERTΒ curriculum especially from class 9 to 12. The current Chairperson of CBSE is Rahul Singh,Β IAS.

Ensuring a safe, inclusive, and meaningful environment for all students is essential to fostering equitable learning, as underscored by National Education Policy 2020. The Ministry of Education, Govt. of India had issued β€œGuidelines on School Safety and Security” in 2021 in line with the provisions contained in the National Education Policy, 2020.

7th November, 2024 is being commemorated as International Day against Violence and Bullying at School (including Cyber Bullying) by UNESCO under the theme β€œProtect, educate, empower: Learners call for safe and inclusive schools.” The theme highlights the critical role of education and calls on school leaders to fulfil their commitments and promises to ensure safe and inclusive schools- from the perspectives of learners. It reinforces existing commitments and encourages new pledges to tackle school violence. Schools may commemorate this day by organizing activities that promote awareness using resources available at the weblinks below:

  • Short film titled “Chuppi todo” (Break the Silence). (English, Hindi and 9 Indian languages)
  • Presentation for students on Prevention of School-related gender-based violence – English, Hindi.
  • Presentation for teachers on Prevention of School-related gender-based violence – English, Hindi.
  • Posters on β€œBe a buddy – Not a bully” – English, Hindi.
  • Poster on prevention and elimination of school-related gender-based violence (SRGBV) English, Hindi, Gujarati and Tamil.

All the Principals/Heads of the CBSE affiliated schools are requested for needful as feasible.
