About AMU
Aligarh Muslim University is a public central university in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, India, which was originally established by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan as the Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College in 1875. Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College became Aligarh Muslim University in 1920, following the Aligarh Muslim University Act.
Competition Details
The Aligarh Muslim University announces All India Essay Writing Competition 2024 in English/Urdu/Hindi for university and college students on
- English: “Bridging Communities: Sir Syed’s Efforts to Promote Religious Harmony in India”.
- Hindi : “समुदायों को जोड़ना: भारत में धार्मिक सद्भाव को बढ़ावा देने के लिए सर सैयद के प्रयास”.
- Urdu: “مختلف کمیونٹیز کے درمیان یکجہتی سر سید کی ہندوستان میں مذہبی ہم آہنگی کو فروغ دینے کی کوششیں”.
Rules
- The essay writing competition in any of the three languages – English, Hindi and Urdu are open for bonafide students of all Indian universities and colleges. Students up to Class XII are not eligible to participate in the competitions.
- There are three cash prizes in each language, viz., First Prize- Rs. 25,000/-, Second-Rs. 15,000/- & Third-Rs. 10,000/-.
- Essays of previous years’ winners shall not be judged for any prize in any category.
- Essays must be original and not published in any book, magazine, newspaper or online. The essay will summarily be rejected if found plagiarized.
- Essays, containing around 3000 (three thousand) words and printed in double space on one side of A4 size paper, should be submitted along with the Bonafide certificate from the College/University and duly forwarded by the Head of the Institution. Handwritten essay will not be considered for the competition.
- The qualifying marks for the essays to be considered for prize will be 50 out of 100 marks. The soft copy of the essay, along with a passport size photograph of the participant, is essentially required. There must not be any identification mark or name of the participant written on the Essay.
- All participants are required to submit bank account details, including Account Number, A/c holder’s name, Name of the bank/branch, IFSC code and PAN number for the purpose of disbursement of prize money.
- The prizes will be announced on October 17, 2024. The first, second and third prize winners in all the three languages will be given both way AC-III class railway fare, along with one relative (Father/ Mother/ Brother/Sister), with board and lodging facility at the University.
- The decision of the University with regard to the prizes will be final. No communication will be entertained after the declaration of the result.
- All disputes are subject to Aligarh jurisdiction only.
How to Submit?
The hard copy of the essay must reach by post at Public Relations Office, AMU, Aligarh-202001 and the soft copy by e-mail at amuessaycompetition@gmail.com latest by September 30, 2024. Kindly mention “Essay Writing Competition-2024 (English or Hindi or Urdu)” on envelop or in the subject while sending the essay through e-mail.
