About the Organisation

The SDGCC is a specialized unit within the Planning & Transformation Department dedicated to advocacy, governance, monitoring, policy enhancement, and accelerating the implementation of SDGs across Nagaland. The state government has been actively engaging individuals, institutions, organizations, and communities to contribute to the achievement of these goals as part of the Nagaland SDG Vision 2030.

About the Competition

The SDG Coordination Centre (SDGCC) under the Planning & Transformation Department has announced the launch of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Essay Competition. This initiative aims to provide a platform for the citizens of Nagaland to share their ideas and propose solutions for a more sustainable and inclusive future.

Categories and Themes

The competition is open to all residents of Nagaland, divided into two categories:

  1. Fifteen years and below: Participants in this category are invited to write on the theme, β€˜My 2030 vision for a sustainable, equitable, and green Nagaland’.
  2. Sixteen years and above: This category focuses on the theme, β€˜Localizing of SDGs and traditional value system: Prospects, Challenges, and Strategies in Nagaland’.

Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a global call to action to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure peace and prosperity by 2030. Comprising 17 global goals and 169 associated targets, the SDGs serve as a blueprint for achieving a better and more sustainable future, emphasizing the principle to “leave no one behind” and prioritize those “furthest behind first.”

Awards and Recognition

Winners in both categories will receive cash prizes:

  • First Prize: INR 5000
  • Runner-Up: INR 4000

The results will be announced on 25th September 2024 as part of the World SDG Day celebrations. For more updates and information, participants can follow the SDGCC on their social media handles @sdgccnagaland.

How to Submit?

Interested individuals can submit their original essays via email to sdgnagaland[at]gmail[dot]com. Along with the essay, participants must include their name, age, postal address, and contact number.

Deadline

The deadline for submission is 21st September 2024.
