About BNHS
TheΒ Bombay Natural History SocietyΒ (BNHS), founded on 15 September 1883, is one of the largestΒ non-governmental organisationsΒ in India engaged inΒ conservationΒ andΒ biodiversityΒ research.Β It supports many research efforts through grants and publishes theΒ Journal of the Bombay Natural History Society. Many prominent naturalists, including the ornithologistsΒ SΓ‘lim AliΒ andΒ S. Dillon Ripley, have been associated with it.
The BNHS logo is theΒ great hornbill, inspired by a great hornbill named William, who lived on the premises of the Society from 1894 until 1920, during the honorary secretaryships ofΒ H. M. PhipsonΒ until 1906 andΒ W. S. MillardΒ from 1906 to 1920. The logo was created in 1933, the golden jubilee year of the Society’s founding.
Today the BNHS is headquartered in the specially constructed ‘Hornbill House’ in southernΒ Mumbai. It sponsors studies in Indian wildlife and conservation, and publishes a four-monthly journal,Β Journal of the Bombay Natural History Society, as well as a quarterly magazine,Β Hornbill.
Competition Details
On the occasion of βInternational Day of Clean Air for Blue Skies (07 September, 2024)β & βWorld Ozone Day (16 September, 2024)β, EIACP RP on Avian Ecology at the Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS-EIACP) is organizing a drawing competition for students.
Participants should submit their entry by filling the google form only.

Topic
Clean Air for Healthy Kids.
Categories
- Group A :Β Classes 5-7.
- Group B :Β Classes 8-10.
Submission Guidelines
- This competition is open for Indian citizens only. Entry should be done from one Email ID only.
- Each file should be named as Participant name-Group. For example: XYZ-Group A.
- The drawing should be made on a A4 size paper only. Any colouring medium is allowed.
- Digital editing of drawing is not permitted.
- Send only a good resolution (at least 150 dpi) scanned copy of the drawing (in JPEG format).
- Winners may be asked to submit the original drawing and copy of their date of birth proof, if required.
- Entries with unclear or low-resolution images and incomplete information regarding the participant will be rejected.
Prizes
The winning entries will receive e-certificates and prizes.
