Contest Details
To generate awareness about the importance of the handloom industry and its contribution to the socio-economic development of the country, 7th August is celebrated every year as βNational Handloom Dayβ.
August 7 was chosen as the National Handloom Day to commemorate the Swadeshi Movement which was launched on this day in 1905 in the Calcutta Town hall. The first National Handloom Day was inaugurated on 7th August 2015 by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at the Centenary Hall of Madras University in Chennai.
Ministry of TextilesΒ in collaboration withΒ MyGovΒ is organizing aΒ Selfie with Indian HandloomΒ contest where Indian citizens are requested to wear Indian Handloom and showcase their bonding with handlooms by sharing interesting selfies with Indian Handloom.

Guidelines
- The Competition is open only to Indian citizens.
- All entries must be submitted to www.mygov.in. Entries submitted through any other medium/ mode will not be considered for evaluation.
- One participant can submit a maximum of one entry only. Once submitted an entry cannot be withdrawn.
- The entries will be the intellectual property and copyright of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India. Nobody can exercise any right over by participating in this selfie contest you are also giving explicit consent to the organizers to use the images, submitted entry by Government of India for promotional and display purpose in various creative, films, social media handles etc. The entries are intended to be used by Government of India for promotional and display purposes.
- The content must be original and should not violate any provision of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957. Anyone found infringing on othersβ copyright would be disqualified from the competition. Government of India does not bear any responsibility for copyright violations or infringements of intellectual property carried out by the participants.
- Participant is to make sure that his/her MyGov profile is accurate and updated since the Ministry would be using this for further communication. This includes name, contact number and email id. Entries with incomplete profiles would not be considered.
