About Mysuru Zoo

Mysore Zoo (or Mysuru Zoo), officially known as Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, is a composite of zoological gardens and animal park located in the southern Indian city of Mysore, Karnataka. Stretching across a 157-acre (64 ha)-expanse and situated at about 700 metres (0.43 miles) from Mysore Palace, it is the oldest zoo in India and one of the oldest in the world. One of the most popular zoos in India and one of the city’s most popular attractions, it is home to a wide range of over 168 species.

Mysore Zoo was created from the private menagerie of Chamaraja Wadiyar X, the twenty-third Maharaja of Mysore. in 1892, on 10 acres (4.0 ha) of the Summer Palace. Over the next 10 years, the zoo was expanded to 45 acres (18 ha) with spacious enclosures that are still in use.

Contest Details

On the occasion of World Giraffe Day, Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens, Mysuru is thrilled to announce a Poster Contest with the theme “Protect Grassland Ecosystem”. Scan the QR code in the poster for detailed instructions and additional information. Let’s get creative and protect our grasslands.

They encourage all participants to unleash their creativity and produce amazing giraffe posters that will impress the judges.

Eligibility

Teams of 3 to 5 students from Class 8 to 12 can participate.

Poster Requirements

  • Size: A2 or KG Cardboard.
  • Handmade with sustainable and eco-friendly materials.

Theme

Topic: Protect Grassland Ecosystem. (Posters must strictly adhere to the assigned theme).

Materials

You can use any kind of handmade, sustainable, and eco-friendly materials for your poster.

Judging

A panel of judges will evaluate the posters based on:

  • Concept and creativity.
  • Colour scheme and visual impact.
  • Materials used and craftsmanship.
  • The judges’ decision is final.

Presentation

  • Each team will be given 4+1 minutes to present their poster to the judges.
  • Prepare your presentation to effectively showcase your ideas and unique qualities of your poster.

The posters must be submitted to the zoo office.
