About the Notification
The Ministry of Education, Government of India, annually honours exemplary educators across the country through the prestigious National Awards to Teachers. As part of this initiative, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has been entrusted with recommending six outstanding educators from among its affiliated private independent schools (excluding KVS, NVS, Sainik Schools, and EMRS).
CBSE now invites self-nominations from eligible teachers and principals working in its affiliated private independent schools for the National Awards to Teachers 2024–25.

Eligibility Criteria
To be considered under the CBSE quota, applicants must meet the following conditions:
- For Teachers: Minimum of 10 years of regular service in a school affiliated to a recognized Board by 31st March 2025.
- For Principals: Minimum of 10 years as a teacher and 5 years as a Principal in CBSE-affiliated schools by the same date.
- Retired Teachers/Principals who retired on or after 31st March 2025 are also eligible.
- Principals cannot apply under the teacher category.
- Applicants may apply in only one category—either Teacher or Principal.

Documents Required
Applicants must upload the following documents (in PDF format, max 1MB each):
- Undertaking confirming the accuracy of submitted information and the authenticity of uploaded documents.
- Recommendation letters, including:
- Certification of continuous and regular service
- Vigilance clearance
- No service break in the past 10 years (for teachers) or 15 years (for principals)
- Signed by the Manager of the School
- Copies of:
- Date of Birth proof (10th/11th/12th/equivalent mark sheet)
- Academic qualifications: Graduation, Post-Graduation
- Professional qualifications: NTT, ETE, B.El.Ed., B.Ed., etc.
- Class results in Board/School Examinations (where applicable)
Selection Process
- CBSE will create a merit list based on:
- Length of service
- Age
- Academic and professional qualifications
- Examination performance
- Other specified criteria
- From this merit list, the top 24 candidates will be shortlisted.
- In case of a tie, additional screening criteria may be applied.
- Shortlisted candidates will be given two days to upload verified documents signed by:
- Head of School (for teacher applicants)
- Manager of School (for principal applicants)
- Final nominations will be selected after an interactive session with a National Level Scrutiny Committee.
Important Note to School Heads
All Heads and Teachers of CBSE-affiliated schools (except KVS, NVS, Sainik Schools, and EMRS) are requested to take note of the above and ensure wide dissemination of this information within their institutions.
Submissions must be made on or before the deadline. Incomplete applications or those submitted offline will not be considered.
