How did you apply to this School?

My parents handled my admission into the school as I was only 3 years old at the time.

What are some of the good things about the faculty of your School?

The faculty at my school pours their heart out while teaching. It is really easy to approach them and interact with them on any topic. They even take time out during homerooms and recess to teach or re-teach any topic you want. They are even ready to stay back after school hours with you for any help you might need. They make test papers on student’s request for extra practice.

What are some of the bad things about the faculty of your School?

While there are many good points about the faculty there also are some unworthy teachers amongst them. The policy of our school of not allowing school teachers to teach tuition classes has affected the quality of teachers they’ve been hiring in the past few years, especially in the higher standards of 11th and 12th.

This is because all the exceptionally good teachers won’t be satisfied only with the school’s salary, they would want some extra income for having superior teaching skills so they don’t apply to DPS, Surat, and prefer other schools instead. The teachers that my school gets are then inferior compared to the ones in other schools in my city.

What are some of the good things about the infrastructure of your School?

My school has a very uniform infrastructure and recently 2 new floors have been added to accommodate more students. It is spread over a large area and consists of 5 blocks. It also has a separate block for all the sports activities and a seminar room. There are stages in two of the blocks where children perform and showcase their talent in front of the others.

What are some of the bad things about the infrastructure of your School?

To be honest I really can’t think of any negative aspects of the infrastructure of my school. If I have to say something I’ll say that they should work on the parking area where all the cars are parked and where the vans and parents come to pick up and drop off the children.

What are some of the good things about the teacher-to-student ratio of your School?

The sections in my school vary from 8-10 in each standard with 40 students in each class. The number of teachers per class increases as the child progresses to higher standards going from a single teacher teaching all subjects to a single teacher per subject. This structure increases the efficiency with which the teachers can interact and bond with each student.

What are some of the bad things about the teacher-to-student ratio of your School?

Even if the current ratio works well in the regular classes some students require more personalized attention from the teacher as they need some time to absorb the topic being taught. This poses a problem when there are 40 children in the class and the teacher can’t re-teach a topic for a single student since she also has a deadline for completing the syllabus.

What are some of the great initiatives/amenities offered in your School?

My school possesses all of the amenities that a private school must possess. It has facilities for all the major sports (except cricket), a big well-maintained ground for football and even a gym. There is an annual function for the little kids every year and a sports day for the older kids.

The students are divided into four houses namely Dragon, Gryphon, Phoenix, and Unicorn. They have tournaments amongst the Houses in the group sports like Football and Basketball. The school also forms school teams under the age categories of under 14, under, 17 and under 19 separate for boys and girls and separate for each sport which represents the school in tournaments.

The school has counsellors who guide the students with any problems they might require help with. The school tries to get their alumni and other successful people they can contact to share their experiences and knowledge with the students.

What are the things you would have liked to change about your School if you could?

There are quite a few things that require change in my school:

  • There is a need for a system to be installed in the 11th and 12th grades wherein the students can give their feedback on the teachers anonymously because students face a lot of problems with the teachers in these standards because of the school’s hiring policy mentioned above.
  • The school should look into giving practical experiences of what is being taught to the students. As a student I feel there we are not being taught about the practical applications of the studies. The field trips which the school sometimes takes the students somewhere in the city are I feel only to show that they are doing some extra-curriculars as it has no relation whatsoever with what the students are being taught.
  • The school should start making the students learn the use of the latest technology (for example by giving them projects to make in PPT form on the laptop and using photo and sound editing for the same), so the kids learn how to use at least the basic features of today’s technology which otherwise many children fail to learn. This is because the school must understand the students will never in life be asked to make projects on coloured paper with beautiful handwriting and picture cutouts as they are made to prepare and submit as of now, instead, they will be asked to prepare PPTs and documents online.

How likely are you to recommend this School to other students?
