About Ball State University

Ball State University is a public research university in Muncie, Indiana. It has two satellite facilities in Fishers and Indianapolis.

Ball State is classified among “R2: Doctoral Universities – High research activity”. The university is composed of seven academic colleges. As of Fall 2020, total enrollment was 21,597 students, including 15,205 undergraduates and 5,817 postgraduates. The university offers about 120 undergraduate majors and 130 minor areas of study and more than 100 master’s, doctoral, certificate, and specialist degrees.

There are more than 400 student organizations and clubs on campus, including 31 fraternities and sororities. Ball State athletic teams compete in Division I of the NCAA and are known as the Ball State Cardinals. The university is a member of the Mid-American Conference and the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association. In the fall of 2020, the university formed a varsity esports team and joined the Esports Collegiate Conference.

About the Scholarships Provided by the Department of Political Science

The Department of Political Science offers several opportunities for undergraduate students to apply for scholarships. The recipients of these scholarships are selected by a panel of department faculty and offer partial assistance towards the expense of tuition. Each scholarship has its own unique requirements and documents needed to apply. Applications are accepted during the Spring semester each year, and are due by 5 PM on the first day of April.

About the Robert L. Barnet Scholarship

This scholarship was established in honor of Judge Robert Barnet, a Muncie attorney and judge.Β  The recipient must be an undergraduate pre-law student, have financial need, and have a minimum GPA of 2.5.

How to Apply?

Applications must include:

  • completed application;
  • copy of the unofficial transcript;
  • letter of recommendation;
  • letter explaining their qualifications for the award, as well as their future career plans upon completion of their degree.
