About Ball State University
Ball State University is a public research university in Muncie, Indiana. It has two satellite facilities in Fishers and Indianapolis.
Ball State is classified among “R2: Doctoral Universities β High research activity”. The university is composed of seven academic colleges. As of Fall 2020, total enrollment was 21,597 students, including 15,205 undergraduates and 5,817 postgraduates. The university offers about 120 undergraduate majors and 130 minor areas of study and more than 100 master’s, doctoral, certificate, and specialist degrees.
There are more than 400 student organizations and clubs on campus,Β including 31Β fraternitiesΒ andΒ sororities.Β Ball State athletic teams compete inΒ Division IΒ of theΒ NCAAΒ and are known as theΒ Ball State Cardinals. The university is a member of theΒ Mid-American ConferenceΒ and theΒ Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association. In the fall of 2020, the university formed aΒ varsity esports team and joined the Esports Collegiate Conference.
About Ball State University’s Journalism Scholarships
At Ball State, more than 80 percent of our students qualify for financial aid. The School of Journalism and Strategic Communication offers a wide variety of merit- and need-based scholarships to our students at all levels and in all areas.
There are two types of scholarship opportunities:Β
- incoming freshmen scholarships.
- continuing student scholarships.
Beyond departmental support, the university also offersΒ scholarships and financial aid.
About the Freshman Achievement Scholarship
The Freshman Achievement Scholarship is a one-time, non-renewable award from the School of Journalism and Strategic Communication and funded by alumni and general scholarship gifts.
Award Amount
One-time award of $750 (Rs. 62k+), if funding is available.
Eligibility Criteria
All applicants will be considered. Recipients must declare intentions to major in journalism. If the recipient leaves the study of journalism, he or she will no longer be eligible for the award.
