About the Olympiad

The CREST English Olympiad (CEO) is an international competitive exam held online for students in Classes KG-10. For students of Classes KG-2, there will be only one level. There will be 2 levels for students of Classes 3-10. The exam is an objective-type test that the students need to complete in 60 minutes. For students of Classes KG and 1, the exam will be parent/teacher assisted. The time of exam will be 45 minutes for KG students.

The exam consists of two sections:

  • Section-1: English Language.
  • Section-2: Achievers Section.

Important Information About the Olympiad

  • There are separate question papers for each and every class.
  • The medium of the exam is English.
  • The syllabus of various international boards is followed for the setting of test papers.
  •  The online exams are conducted on web-enabled devices like laptops, tablets or desktops with webcams. Mobile devices are not allowed.
  • For students of Classes KG and 1, the parent/teacher can assist the child in guiding them through the questions.
  • In case the registration is not through school, the student will have to take the exam from home.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for the Level 1 CREST English Olympiad exam

The basic requirements for participating in level 1 are listed below:

  • The participating candidate’s school must be affiliated with any Indian-recognized education board like CBSE, ICSE, State Board, etc. Also, students residing outside of India can also participate.
  • Candidates studying in Grades KG – 10 are eligible to participate in the level 1 examination.

Eligibility Criteria for the Level 2 CREST English Olympiad exam

The international English Olympiad eligibility criteria for level 2 are totally based on the marks obtained in the level 1 examination. Students who qualify for the minimum marking criteria for level 1 can participate in level 2.

Students from more than 25 countries participate in CREST English Olympiad every year. The exam is conducted with the aim of enhancing the kids’ English knowledge.

How to Register?

  • Registration of Students through schools: Students from Classes KG – 10 are eligible to give CREST Olympiads. A prospectus containing the registration forms is sent to all schools registered with CREST Olympiads. If your school is not registered with us, then please send an email to info@crestolympiads.com and we will send you the prospectus soon. It is mandatory for schools to return the registration forms to CREST Olympiads, duly filled in and completed in all respects by the due date.
  • Registration for individual participants: If your school does not conduct Olympiads, then you can register as an individual participant as well. The link for the online registration for individual participants is here.

Syllabus & Exam Pattern for the CREST English Olympiad

The CREST English Olympiad is considered one of the crucial examinations that helps to develop and enhance English language skills. This examination tests students’ English proficiency and grammatical knowledge. The exam paper has 2 sections.

The CREST English Olympiad syllabus for each level exam is mostly the same as the school syllabus but the difficulty level of questions is slightly increased and is especially focused on assessing the advanced level understanding of the subject.

The examination covers topics and questions framed from the CBSE, ICSE and other state board syllabi. The paper covers topics like comprehension, sentence formations, jumbled words, parts of speech, etc. This examination welcomes all the candidates to participate in this examination and improve their English language skills.

The question paper has different marking criteria for each section. Each section has a different marking scheme. In the English language section, for every correct answer, 1 mark is given and in the Achievers Section, on every correct answer, 2 marks are given. Negative marking is not there. The weightage of the paper is different for all the classes. 

  • For KG, the exam is of total 30 marks.
  • For grades 1-4, the exam is of total 45 marks.
  • For grades 5-10, the exam is of total 60 marks.

Dates & Fee for the CREST English Olympiad

The exam dates for CREST English Olympiad (CEO) for the Academic Year 2023-24 are as given below:

The exam fee is INR 225 for students studying and enrolling from India. For students studying and residing outside of India, the fee is country-specific.
