About the CREST Teacher English Olympiad

As an English teacher do you meet the proficiency level in the subject needed for the 21st century? Do you hold the abilities and traits required by a competent teaching professional in a time that’s changing and developing so rapidly? When asked questions like these to educators most of them would be in a dilemma to say yes or no.

With an aim to help teachers assess their current English proficiency level, CREST Olympiads is conducting the CREST Teacher English Olympiad (CTEO). This teacher certification test is conducted at the international level bringing in a large talent pool of educators to compete together & is appropriate for teachers to examine & sharpen their current understanding of the concepts in the English subject.

CREST Teacher English Olympiad (CTEO) can be taken by teachers who teach Stage I (Grades 1-3), Stage II (Grades 4-6) & Stage III (Grades 7-8) students.

Fees of CREST Teacher English Olympiad

The fee for CREST Teacher English Olympiad (CTEO) certification isΒ Rs. 225 (India-based candidates)/USD 15 (International candidates) per stage. The fee also includes a Free Trial.

Syllabus of Stage I (Grades 1-3)

Nouns, verbs, pronouns, adjectives (basic, comparative, superlative), adverbs, simple tenses, articles, prepositions, conjunctions, punctuation, types of sentences, subject and predicate, feminine and masculine, word power (spellings, rhyming words, synonyms, antonyms, homophones, odd one out, word order, picture identification, word pair, vocabulary including animals (babies, sounds, wild, pet/domestic), etc.), information retrieval from various text/image types like stories, anecdotes, pictures, time-table format, messages, invitations, etc., singular and plural, spoken and written verbal expressions (accuse and deny blame, make suggestions, express opinion, certainty and doubt, ask about and talk about the date, day, time duration, feelings, health, weather, actions, instructions).

Syllabus of Stage II (Grades 4-6)

Nouns and their types, verbs, pronouns, adjectives (quality & quantity), adverbs, simple tenses, articles, prepositions, conjunctions, punctuation, types of sentences, subject & predicate, jumbled words, information retrieval from various text and image types like stories, anecdotes, pictures, time-table Format, messages, invitations etc., spoken and verbal expressions like an apology, greetings, introduction, request, etc., feminine & masculine, Word Power (homonyms and homophones, common phrasal verbs, collocations, idioms and proverbs), active-passive voice, reported speech, tenses, similes and metaphors, one-word substitution, parts of speech, prefixes-suffixes.

Syllabus of Stage III (Grades 7-8)

Nouns and its various types, verbs (transitive and intransitive, modals), agreement of the verb with the subject, pronouns (all types, recognition and classification), adverbs and its types, adjectives (all types, sequencing), adverbs (and its types) and differentiation between adjectives and adverbs, articles (definite and indefinite), prepositions and its types, conjunctions and its types, punctuation, tenses (all) , prepositions, prepositional phrases, analogies and spellings, word power (synonyms, antonyms, homonyms and homophones), active-passive voice, direct and indirect speech, jumbled words, participle phrases and punctuations, figures of speech- classification, recognition, matching, Information retrieval from news reports, blurb, brochures, dictionaries, formal and informal letters, instruction manual format, notices, biographies, messages, editorials, short narratives, advertisements, itinerary, essays, etc., collocations and interjections, phrasal verbs, idioms and proverbs, one-word substitution
