About The Competition
Intending to conserve Indian traditional architecture, CSIR-NIScPR (The Council Of Scientific And Industrial ResearchβNational Institute Of Science Communication and Policy Research) is collaborating with MyGov to host the “Indian Architectural Heritage through Your Lens – SVASTIK Photography Contest.”
By taking part in this national initiative, you can contribute to the documentation of regional architectural marvels and the preservation of traditional Indian architecture. Through your photograph you must convey a compelling narrative about ancient Indian architecture, its geometry and a scientific explanation of its engineering.
Competition Guidelines
- Entry must be submitted in JPG/JPEG/ PNG format.
- While submitting, participants must provide a title and a detailed description of their photograph in English or Hindi in upto 500 words.
Your photograph should:
- Describe the science that underlies traditional Indian architecture.
- Demonstrate how traditional Indian knowledge and architecture contribute to society through science and the arts.
- Explain the scientific rationale underlying Indian traditional architecture technologies.
- Provide scientific facts regarding architectural structures’ art, shape, and construction.
- Explore the history of the scientific discoveries that led to the building of architectural structures.
Judging criteria may include but not limited to the following points:
- Technical quality of the photograph (composition, use of light, sharpness,
- perspective
- Uniqueness value of the traditional architecture chosen as the subject.
- Quality of description provided in English/Hindi (up to 500 words).
- Relevance of description as depicted in photograph.
