About BITM
Established on 2nd May 1959 under the administrative control of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Birla Industrial & Technological Museum (BITM) in Kolkata is widely regarded as the mother of science museum movement in India.
Birla Industrial & Technological Museum (BITM) in Kolkata, the first science museum in the country under the National Council of Science Museums (NCSM), Ministry of Culture, Govt. of India, is engaged in popularizing and promoting science especially among the youth through various interactive models, exhibitions, educational programmes and activities throughout the year.
Membership Details
The βInnovation Hubβ is a 2000 sq.ft. Science Laboratory for high school (classes VI to XII) and college students where they are engaged in creative and innovative activities. The underlying ides is to promote critical thinking, innovation and practical problem solving ability through science projects and hands on activities. The broad sections of Innovation Hub are: βHall of Fame: Innovators and Inventorsβ, βInnovative Resource Centreβ, βInnovation Laboratoryβ and βTech Lab: Robotics and Microprocessor Programming Facilityβ.
Facilities of Innovation Hub will be available on membership basis (for a minimum period of one year) to school and college students. Fee waiver is available for deserving students from underprivileged sections on merit basis.
