Briefly Write is a little literary space for bold, succinct writing. Briefly Write is a creative space for bold poetry and prose.
- They publish a twice-yearly zine of quality writing and photos.

About the Briefly Write Poetry Prize
The Briefly Write Poetry Prize celebrates and rewards bold, succinct writing.
They want well-crafted poems of up to 10 lines. They want innovative language, strong imagery and subtle, focused composition. Send them your best brief writing.
The Brief Write Poetry Prize Guidelines and Details
Please read all the guidelines. Your entry might be disqualified if you do not follow the following steps.
- The Brief Write Poetry Prize is free to enter.
- There can only be one entry per person.
- Everyone is welcome to enter, whoever you are and wherever you are in the world.
- Poems must be original and never previously published (including self-published) online or in print.
- Please do not submit work that is under consideration elsewhere. Once submitted, your entry cannot be withdrawn from the poetry prize.
- Your poem must be 10 lines or fewer. Your title should not be included in this word/line limit.
- Only entries made via the online form (link below) will be considered.
- Entries open 14 May, 2023. The closing date is 30 June 2023 at 23:59 BST. If in doubt about time zones, don’t leave it until the last day!
- Entries will be judged anonymously. The judges’ decision is final.
- Prize and commended poems will be published online. Each winning author will have the chance to be featured on the website.
- Results will be published online by the end of September 2023. If, for any reason, this needs to be changed, they will provide an update on this page. The organisers will contact all entrants by email before publishing the results online.
- By entering the Briefly Write Poetry Prize, you are granting them first electronic rights only. Copyright reverts to the author upon publication.
Prizes and Entry
This year, there is a prize fund of £70 (Rs. 7k+). They are committed to accessibility and, as such, entry is free. They would greatly appreciate any support towards the costs of running this competition.
There is a prize fund of £70, which will be split as follows:
- 1st prize: £40 (Rs. 4k+).
- 2nd prize: £20 (Rs. 2k+).
- 3rd prize: £10 (Rs. 1k+).
