About the 5G & Beyond Hackathon 2023

In its endeavour to identify and promote applications relevant to India in the 5G & Beyond realm, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has launched the ‘5G & Beyond Hackathon 2023’ in association with a number of governments, academia & industry stakeholders.

Aimed at shortlisting India focused cutting edge products/solutions at minimum TRL 3-5 that can be converted into workable 5G & Beyond products and solutions, Winners of the Hackathon will be awarded with Rs. 1,00,000 each and free space to showcase during IMC 2023 and a unique opportunity to scale and implement their 5G & Beyond products/solutions to make them market ready with the support of DoT, MeitY and a number of leading industries, academia, Telcos/OEMs. 

5G technology provides a quantum leap over 4G in terms of speed, peak data rate, latency, spectrum efficiency and connection density. The most distinct feature is applications in different economic verticals.

5G & Beyond Hackathon will convert innovative products and solutions from proof-of-concept level TRL (3-5) in different verticals and develop India-specific Use cases around 5G & Beyond.

Objectives of the Hackathon

Development of products/solutions, relevant to India in the 5G & Beyond realm that will be developed into workable products and services.

Eligibility

The event is open to the following who may participate as individuals, teams, startups, etc. and may work individually or as a team on ideas/concepts/solutions and present use cases for the 5G & Beyond products/solutions. 

  • Students, Startups owned and controlled by Resident Indian Citizens, academic institutions in India; 
  • Employees of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), India Mobile Congress (IMC), Digital Communication Square Scheme (DCIS) Beneficiaries or Startups connected with them as promoters/partners are not eligible;
  • Products/Solutions given by Startups which have already been selected in the earlier 5G hackathon shall not be eligible;
  • Products/Solutions shall be connected to 5G & Beyond. Ideas without a basic connection to these technologies shall not be eligible.

Awards

The winners will be awarded Rs. 1,00,000/- each and a free space to showcase during IMC 2023.
