About the Competition
The British Council library is commemorating International Youth Day (12 August) and World Photography Day (19 August) with a special eventβa photography competition exclusively for college students. This competition centers around the theme “My city through your lensβ, encouraging college students to embark on a visual journey through the vibrant city. Participants are invited to capture compelling images that epitomise the essence and uniqueness of the city, showcasing its characteristic charm and spirit through the lens of photography.

- Main Theme for Kolkata:Β KolkataΒ through your lens
Eligibility
The contest is open to all the college students in India.Β Β
Competition Details
- Participants are to submit their entries between 2 and 10 August (both days inclusive).Β
- Participants can submit maximum 3 entries with a note on what each photo signifies to them.Β
- While submitting the photograph, participants must enclose the submission form with a copy of their college ID card.Β

- Registration – It is mandatory to register before you submit your entries
- Submission Dates:Β 2Β August – 10 August 2024
- OnΒ 12 August,Β during the International Youth Day all the photograph entries will be displayed in the library.
- Β Winner announcement βΒ 19th August during the World Photography Day.Β Β
Terms and Conditions
- Prior registration in mandatory.Β Please click to register for fee on the link above.Β
- The photograph must be in its original state and cannot be altered in any way, including but not limited to removing, adding, reversing, or distorting subjects within the frame or adding filters.
- No obscenity will be entertained and will be disqualified.Β
- The contest is open for hard copy submissions only. No online submissions will be entertained.Β
- The photograph submitted by the participant shall be devoid of any copyrighted images.
- Entries will be judged by British Council. All decisions are final. We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that is deemed inappropriate or does not conform to stated contest rules.
- Submissions will not be accepted once the deadline lapses.
- The prize must be collected by the winner and is nontransferable.
- The winner will be contacted via the email address provided during entry. If no response is received after 3 business days, a new winner will be selected and the previous winner will forfeit all rights to the prize.Β Β Β Β Β Β
Submission Guidelines
- Only hard copy photograph will be accepted.
- Photographs should be of size 5X7 inches, 8×8 inches or 10X12 inches.
- The photograph can be in colour(s), monochromatic, or black/white.
- The photograph to be submitted must be accompanied by the submission form and Consent form. Entries without the submission form will be disqualified. Envelop should be named as βBritish Council Photography Competitionβ.
