About the JM Sethia Charitable Trust Merit Scholarship Scheme 2023
The scheme was introduced in the yearΒ 1997. The scheme is applicable to any individual. He/She should have passed the qualifying examination in 2023 (on the first attempt) only. Those having passed earlier are not eligible.
Eligibility Categories
The scholarship can be availed by students enrolled in full-time courses only.
- CategoryΒ A: Students of 9th-10th classes.
- CategoryΒ B: Students of 11th-12th classes.
- CategoryΒ C: Graduate students.
- CategoryΒ D: Postgraduate students.
- CategoryΒ P: Students doing a professional course.
Number of Scholarships
- The scholarships shall be granted on the basis of merit of the marks and reservation factor.
- CategoriesΒ A and BΒ will receive 15 scholarships each.
- CategoriesΒ C, D, and PΒ will receive 10 scholarships each.
- If the number of applications is large, the management may increase the limit according to the requirements.
Scholarship Amount
- CategoryΒ AΒ students will receive Rs. 400/- per month for two years.
- CategoryΒ BΒ students will receive Rs. 500/- per month for two years.
- CategoryΒ CΒ students will receive Rs. 600/- per month for two or three years as applicable.
- CategoryΒ DΒ students will receive Rs. 700/- per month for two or three years as applicable.
- CategoryΒ PΒ students will receive Rs. 1,000/- per month for two or three years as applicable.
Utilisation of the Scholarship Amount
The amount should be used by the students on themselves and on their studies only.
Minimum Qualifying Percentages
- CategoryΒ A: 75% aggregate in class 8th.
- CategoryΒ B: 75% aggregate in class 10th.
- CategoryΒ C: 75% aggregate (Science & Commerce), 65% aggregate (Humanities/Arts).
- CategoryΒ D: 60% aggregate (Science & Commerce), 50% aggregate (Humanities/Arts.
- CategoryΒ P: 60% aggregate (Science & Commerce), 50% aggregate (Humanities/Arts).
Unique Scholarship Reservation
Applicants should not be getting any other kind of scholarship from elsewhere.
20% of scholarships in each category areΒ reservedΒ for:
- Special Category: People with disabilities.
- Excellence in extra-curricular activities like sports, NCC βBβ certificate holder, debating, dramatics & social services.
- Economically weaker sections: For those students, whose parents’ annual income is not more than Rs. 1,20,000/- (rupees one lakh and twenty thousand only). The minimum qualifying percentage will not apply to them.
Selection Committee
The merit list is discussed and analysed for final selection by a high-level selection panel, constituted by the trust management. The decision of this committee shall be final and binding for all purposes.
Continuity
If granted a scholarship, the holder will have to provide a continuity certificate issued by the head of the institution every quarter. The holder has to submit the statement of their account with proper authentication about the utilisation of the scholarship amount.
