About TERI

TERI – The Energy and Resources Institute: is a not-for-profit, policy research organization – working in the fields of energy, environment, and sustainable development.

Olympiad Details

GREEN Olympiad is a leading school-based initiative of TERI. The journey started in 1999 as India’s premier environment quiz for school students.

GREEN Olympiad is India’s first annual examination on environmental issues for school students. The examination is designed innovatively to test the knowledge of students and also educate and sensitize them in the process. One of its kind in India, the GREEN Olympiad asks questions on environment and sustainability and green skills.

Eligibility

Students of grades 4 – 12 enrolled in a school affiliated to recognized educational board or trust are eligible to appear for GREEN Olympiad. Private coaching institute and similar entities are not allowed to participate in this exam.

Syllabus

The examination is not based on any prescribed syllabus or textbooks. It is encourage that the participants to do extensive reading and be well versed with current affairs, facts and changes linked to the environment around them. It is desirable that students do an extensive self-study and then attempt the paper. The questions will trigger reasoning and help them develop an aptitude for adopting a pro environment lifestyle.

Paper Based (Offline).

Duration of Examination

60 minutes.

Centre of Examination

School will be the centre for its registered students. GREEN Olympiad Secretariat will send question papers and OMR sheet before the examination.

Certificates

All participants and coordinating teacher will receive certificates. Merit and distinction certificates will also be awarded based on scores.

Registration Fee

₹ 200 per student enrolled for schools based in India / USD 6 per student enrolled for schools based outside India.
Schools in India can retain ₹ 10 per enrolled student for conducting the examination on campus and for any other logistical expenditure.
Additional charges for availing sample paper booklet (optional): ₹ 100 per student enrolled in schools based in India/ USD 3 for students enrolled in schools based outside India.

In 2023, GREEN Olympiad will only accept school based registration. Schools can either register online or offline through this link.

Important Dates

Last Date for Registration: July 15, 2023.
Date of Examination: Schools are free to opt for any one date between 01 September 2023 or 12 October 2023.
