About SBI Youth For India Fellowship

The Fellowship connects India’s top minds with rural communities, fostering empathy and positive change. Launched in March 2011, the program began with 27 fellows and received strong feedback for its significant impact.

The Program seeks to help India secure an equitable and sustainable growth path by:

  • Providing educated and passionate urban Indian youth with an opportunity to touch lives and create positive change at the grass root level in rural india
  • Providing NGOs working on development projects in rural India with educated manpower whose skill sets can be used to catalyze rural development.
  • Promoting a forum for the Program alumni to share ideas and contribute to rural development throughout their professional life.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidate must-

  • The candidate must have completed a Bachelor’s degree before 1 October 2025.
  • The candidate must be an Indian citizen, a citizen of Nepal or Bhutan, or an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI).
  • The candidate must be between 21 and 32 years of age on the day of commencement of the program, i.e., the candidate must have been born not earlier than 5th August 1993 and not later than 6th October 2004.

The application process is a two-stage procedure:

Stage-1: Registration & Online Assessment

  • Complete the registration form and begin the online assessment.
  • In the assessment, you’ll provide detailed, essay-based responses sharing your story, perspectives, reasons for joining the Fellowship, and your worldview.

Stage-2: Personal Interview

  • In this stage, a panel of experts will assess your personal qualities and suitability for the Fellowship.
  • The interview goes beyond academic qualifications and work experience, helping the panel understand the deeper aspects of your character and potential.

Final Selection

The selected candidates of Stage -2 will be notified on a rolling basis during the application period via email and/or SMS. On confirmation, candidates will be sent the offer letter, specifying details of the programme, Fellowship support and terms and conditions of the Fellowship.

Onboarding

Once the candidates have accepted the offer, the onboarding process will be initiated. They continuously engage with selected candidates over an online forum to get to know them better and clarify their doubts regarding the Fellowship.

Fellowship Support

  • A monthly allowance ofΒ 16000 INRΒ for the duration of the programme to meet your living expenses.
  • A monthly allowance ofΒ 2000 INRΒ for the duration of the programme to meet your transport expenses.
  • A monthly allowance ofΒ 1000 INRΒ for the duration of the programme to meet your project-related expenses.
  • A dedicated provision for language support will be provided at the location.
  • A readjustment allowance ofΒ 90000 INRΒ upon successful & satisfactory completion of the Fellowship.
  • The cost of the return 3AC train fare from your residence to the project site location as well as expenses incurred on traveling for training programmes shall be covered.
  • A health and personal accident insurance policy will also be provided.

Other Support

  • You will be assisted by the local NGO staff to find suitable accommodation with safety in mind.
  • The partner NGO will also arrange for necessary support as and when required.

  • An SBI Youth for India team member will be available for overall support & guidance.
  • Mentorship by experienced professionals in the field.
  • Access to the community through well-established Partner NGOs
  • Linkages with premier organizations of the country.
