This is a school photo essay submitted by Shiv Anshika Singh, a class 8 student of SD Public School, New Delhi, and an Emerging Leader.

We are talking about SD Public School’s Patel Nagar Branch, situated in New Delhi’s West Zone. Its location is preferable as a hospital is situated just parallel and also a post office beside the infrastructure to make the student community aware of two basic components of a city. It of course has brilliant infrastructure model but let’s start from the most eye-catching achievements of the school.

The school is awarded as The Microsoft Showcase Schools from all over the world, for the 4th consecutive year.

The Scout and Guide Training Camp for Students by HINDUSTAN SCOUT & GUIDE ASSOCIATION (Affiliated To World Federation Of Independence Scouts, Germany).
They conduct it for three consecutive days where fun activities like rope climbing, whipping of rope, and learning about special secret signs used by spies. Till this year they have only conducted camp in the school campus but will soon take a trip to hill station for practical real-life experience.

Beyond all this there are regular workshops taking place for Career Path (Grades 11&12), Technological Microsoft Initiatives (both students and teachers), and Teaching Guidance from Renowned Personalities of CBSE, Panel Discussions by Fabulous Profile:

Project by a student; Establishment of Artificial Intelligence: Robotics lab in partnership with IIT Bombay, where students have particular time slots to learn about this futuristic mechanism

This was in partnership with Cluster Innovation Centre, University Of Delhi under the guidance of our Honourable Principal mam Dr. Meenakshi Gupta and also Prof. Jyoti Sharma Joint Director of CIC, DU.It helps in understanding mathematics in a simpler way through playing games like Time Race, Up And Down, Reckon, Running On Integers, Cake Shop, Load And Go, Decimal Tower, etc.

NCC Cadets with an international educator

Free NCC Participation (school pays for annual registration on its own) for army base training and A Certificate for girls and will also start the same for boys for Navy training. This initiative is taken to make students incorporate army-level discipline and dressing with perfection.

Sports Day festivities
Special Classical Music training to students above Middle Wing (6th above) included training to play tabla, harmonium, piano and guitar. Also provides vocal coaching for various championships.

The school also trains students for Theatrical Drama for various annual programs of NUKKAD NATAK on a school level and beyond that too. Β 
  • Junior(1st-5th) And Senior (6th-10th) Art Classes by respective teachers for the part-time study of art aspects of various types of painting, colouring, texturing, etc in the Art Room.
  • Also provides study under the category of senior most(11th-12th) classes as fine arts studies in which qualified teachers take practical and theory classes.
Beautiful school infrastructure
  • AC inbuilt Rooms for the junior students with a capacity of only 20-30 students to make the student-to-teacher ratio better.
  • Each class also contains their smart classes on the smart board connecting students with the virtual world of creation even while sitting in the classrooms.
The school consists of two technically equipped computer labs each for junior and senior wings of the school where students apply their learning in the computers.
The library is constructed in a different building which is surrounded by trees to make a peaceful environment for readers.
The school offers practical education via three main labs Physics, Chemistry and Biology Labs where students try hands-on activity.
  • Also, the school prepares special fire and earthquake drills to make the students aware of how to save themselves when in danger of such unpredictable calamities.
Both the genders have the same uniform to promote equality.
