About CBSE

The full form of CBSE is the Central Board of Secondary Education. CBSE is an Indian national-level education board for private and public schools, operated and regulated by the Indian Union Government.

Established in 1929 by a resolution of the government, the Board was an experiment towards inter-state integration and cooperation in the sphere of secondary education. There are more than 27,000 schools in India and 240 schools in 28 foreign countries affiliated to the CBSE. All schools affiliated to CBSE follow the NCERT curriculum especially from class 9 to 12. The current Chairperson of CBSE is Nidhi Chhibber, IAS.

The constitution of the Board was amended in 1952 to give its present name, the Central Board of Secondary Education. The Board was reconstituted on 1 July 1962 so as to make its services available to students and various educational institutions in the entire country.

About the Single Girl Child Scholarship

The CBSE provides the Single Girl Child Scholarship to the Single Girl Child students of CBSE-affiliated schools who passed class X from a school affiliated with CBSE with 60% marks in the first five subjects. The scheme was started by the CBSE from the year 2006.

Single Girl Child Scholarship X 2023 Scheme

  • Last date for submission of online applications by applicant: October 31, 2023.
  • Verification of application by school: November 7, 2023.

Single Girl Child Scholarship X 2022 (Renewal 2023) Scheme: Renewal of CBSE Single Girl Child Scholarship X awarded in 2022

  • Last date for submission of online applications by applicant: October 31, 2023.
  • Verification of application by school: November 7, 2023.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The Single Girl Child passed Class X from the school affiliated with CBSE and pursuing her education at Class XI and XII in CBSE-affiliated schools.
  • The girl students who are the only children of their parents and who have scored 60% or more marks (in the first five subjects) in Class X are eligible for the award of a scholarship.
  • The monthly tuition fee should not exceed Rs. 1,500/- pm in Class X and 10% enhancement for Class XI & XII.
  • The scholarship awarded shall be renewed for a period of one year i.e. successful completion of Class XI and the student has scored 50% or more marks in Class XI and promoted to Class XII.
  • The scholarship shall be awarded to Indian Nationals only.
  • NRI applicants of the Board are also eligible for the award. The tuition fee for the NRIs has been decided maximum of Rs. 6,000/- per month.
  • A Scholar, under the scheme, while availing scholarship can also enjoy other concessions given by the school in which she is studying.
